Short sighted management, high attrition of star performers - Senior Software Engineer ZoomInfo Employee Review

Pros

Comp can be quite high despite being a lower tier tech company (however if you are paid too high this puts a target on your back whenever layoffs happen).

Cons

* Constant attrition due to senior management constantly letting go of high valued and high performing employees. In my time I saw a series of managers, execs, and principal engineers constantly being let go. Many were high performers or had been at the company 10+ years, but management at ZoomInfo is short sighted and is only aiming to maximize each quarter's profit rather than long term investment. * Company is outsourcing high paying tech jobs to lower cost countries (e..g. Israel) * Culture is quite toxic and aggressive. There are many for-profit companies who make tons of money but still manage to have a great culture. ZoomInfo is not one of these.

Thanks for your feedback. You’re quite right – working with us can be lucrative with our generous compensation packages and equity opportunities provided to every employee. Opportunities for advancement are plentiful and we have a strong culture of mobility and promoting from within. Building ZoomInfo into a world class organization has meant we have scaled and adjusted quickly to support our burgeoning customer base and their ever-evolving needs. We are looking for people with passion that will help us build essential structures that we can use to develop solutions to problems our customers don’t even know they have yet. We do have a long-term vision in our Engineering organization that is communicated in our All Hands Meetings. Our Engineering leadership team has an open-door policy and welcomes two-way feedback. Regarding our Israel office, it is not accurate to suggest that our colleagues there are “outsourced.” We have a large team in Israel that is and has always been an integral part of ZoomInfo. Since last year we have been working hard to integrate many company cultures that have come to the ZoomInfo family through acquisition into one cohesive culture that resonates with employees. We can’t do this in a silo, so we reach out on a regular basis to encourage participation in focus groups, surveys and other channels in order to develop employee-centric engagement programs. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors and thank you for your time and efforts at ZoomInfo! -ZoomInfo Employee Experience Team

Pros

ZoomInfo has an incredible company culture that truly stands out-- even working remotely, you feel connected and part of something bigger. The company has a strong focus on being a leader in its space and is constantly innovating, which keeps the work exciting and meaningful. There is a genuine willingness to let ideas and concepts flourish, and employees are empowered to contribute in real ways. I am coming up on four years here, which speaks for itself-- this is a place where you can grow, get promoted quickly, and build a real career. The development resources are outstanding, including McKinsey Leadership programs, internal leadership courses, and LinkedIn Learning. Managers are supportive and invested in your success which makes showing up to work exciting

Cons

At times, communication between departments can be a challenge at the individual contributor level, which can make cross-functional collaboration feel a bit siloed. Additionally, there is still work to be done around diversity in leadership-- increasing representation of people of color and women in leadership roles would make an already great culture even stronger.

Pros

Great management in the CS org. Very little micromanagement, and lets you do your job as you see fit. Promotes work life balance and tend to be real people. Collaborative teams, usually willing to help each other out wherever needed. Good room for growth if you are performing well and are vocal about wanting to move up.

Cons

Salary could be higher for the market, and for how many products you are expected to work with and specialize in. Communication from marketing and leadership directly to clients could be more effectively communicated to the client facing roles prior to reaching the client.

Thank you for sharing your experience in the CS organization and for all you've done for ZoomInfo. I'm proud of the culture of collaboration and support that we've worked hard to build, so it's wonderful to hear that it's paying off for you. I believe that people do their best work when they're empowered; and that means autonomy, flexibility and freedom to get creative. That's how we innovate. I appreciate your candid feedback on cross-functional communication and product complexity. Platform simplification is an important near term goal for the whole company, and we're investing to move in the right direction. Thank you again for your feedback. It's helping us continue improving how we support our teams and equip client-facing employees for success. – Whitney Littman, ZoomInfo VP of Customer Success
