Pros

Benefits package is great and most you can get from day one. If you don't want to move roles you can sit in same role a long time.

Cons

Typical insurance mindset of "old boys club". Opportunities not advertised internally and a friend of senior management will be hired into the role. Internals tend to stay in same role a long time. Some people disappear under cover of darkness from senior positions; position then replaced 6 months later with someone from the network.

US culture of hire and fire. Not many pros to add here.

Cons

Staff are all overworked. No resources everything is done on a shoestring. Its 900+ employees with only a skeleton support staff. Managers/shareholders are lording it in Bermuda earning millions. The systems are a mess and really old(25 years plus) Compliance is terrible. Little regard for security. If anyone speakes up they castigated and fired. No matter how senior.
