Pros

There is NOTHING PRO/GOOD about EntropikTech. If you have to say something, then its just the Fancy MAC That every employee is provided with. INTERNS ARE WORSHIPPED (with Aarti's and Coconut smash)

Cons

Company tagline: Humanizing Experiences with Emotion AI. More like INHUMANELY play with employees Emotions and make you experience the worst of your career here. 1>; There is no PROCESS at all.: Not a single person follows the process including the Management. There is nothing in place. Even if its there, its not followed. Any Professional will find it really hard to manage. Thats one of the Main Reason why the new joinees abscond or Resign with the 1st week. 2>;No VALUE for TIME: There is no value for anyone's time. None of the tasks get done during the Working Hours. Everyone is FORCED to work Post working Hours which can almost extend upto 12AM everyday. Forget about weekends, in case you dont want to work on weekends, then there is a Backlash on the Teams Channel with targeted humiliation. 3>; False Assurance and Expectations: Every new employee is set with false expectations and promises which OnBoarding.(That is their Scheme). Any Bonus or Variables promised during the Offer discussion is invalid once you are onboarded REALITY: Not paid after 1Year 4>; Reporting to: No matter which Team you belong to, you will end up reporting to a Ticket police who has NO Knowledge on the Delivery management nor on any engineering process or methodologies also the root cause for working on weekends, favorable towards QA in Chennai office. 5>; HR's HR team is the worst here. They have no common sense, work experience (though they have 2-3 years exp), no process etc. All they do is LollyGag, Gossip and ignite tiff between employees, Eat and laugh in the discussion rooms ( They dont have actual desk to sit). They hold grudge against each other and taunt them. They have no real knowledge about the policy or people management. In case you ask them regarding any process or policy, they look dumb (you can see it on their face) and tell you "I will get back to you" which they never will. All they do is Laugh like Hyena and you will know its them. They throw themselves on C levels when he visits the Bangalore Office just to get invited to after hours parties and free drinks. 6>;Micro management, and Politics There is a lot of MicroManagement here and employees are targeted solely due to the politics. management even threatens to fire employee on Teams channel. You will be thrown under the bus the bus the first chance they get to point fingers for not finishing the task. Management are like Politicians here and only favor the few party workers they like. Lead engineers are targeted and are asked to forcefully resign due to personal reason/grudge of management.Though they have one WFH per month, HRs and party workers get to take as much WFH as they want. If others request for WFH, they are scrutinized. 7>; NO Learning and Development opportunities. There is no place for L&;D as they stick to a orthodox method (IF its working then that is what we will follow, no need to optimize/improve even if the engineer suggests a better solution). You will not find time to L&;D yourself as you will be working 24/7. You will be treated more like donkeys with Blinders. 8>; Intern Raajy There are more interns in Engineering team than actual employees. (Less pay more work). Interns are treated like senior engineers and are given advanced task within first week. There is no proper KT provided and no proper guidance. interns even sign off on the products features All thanks to the lenience given by the Office Pet. Many Exceptionally good Employees have resigned over the last few months because of politics, process and no value. 9>; No Vision or growth The company has no proper vision or direction as to how the product should be and features are changed on ADHOC basis. you will be scrutinized if you dont implement the Half-Baked idea and also for not able to complete your assigned task) Feature and implementations are added and thrown away as per their wish. If only they stick to a well-planned product, they might get some actual work done. 10>; Miscellaneous No value for employee, experience, Time, Work-Life Balance, policy, process, respect. There are even rumors in Office about the illicit relationship and emails of 'Dummy ran' are the proof. No wonder few cohort employees resigned concomitantly. These 10 Cons are not enough to describe the culture in this company. You better to ward-off from applying here. You can anatomize the above-mentioned points by checking with the employees currently working there. I am sure they will add a few more comments. PS: Even after reading this you decide to start your career here, GOD BLESS YOU.

Entropik Response

Thank you for taking your time to write your review on Glassdoor. One of our core values is to communicate openly and transparently irrespective of whether it is good or bad. We have been trying to follow that through team level meetings or company level all hands meetings. You have shared your feedback here and I will do my best to respond with the same mindset. It is unfortunate that you did not have a good experience, we will consider your feedback and take appropriate next steps to improve the entire process. We appreciate the feedback even if it is bad but it also got us thinking on the factual nature of this feedback. While there are always areas to improve but I can't agree with more than 8 points you have mentioned. Some of the feedback you have mentioned are not even applicable to Product Engineering teams where such policies don't even exist. While not all may have the integrity or rigor to deliver consistently, we constantly evaluate everyone on their performance including leads and share the feedback in a candid manner and give enough time of over 9 months in PIP (in this case) to course correct and perform again. We take peer feedback from teams very seriously and based on the peer feedback, we would have to take some decisions that might have impacted your position which was also consistently communicated during multiple discussions. The peer feedback from all teams are sacrosanct irrespective of whether it is for leads or for associates, we treat all of them fair and equal. Unfortunate to see this feedback, but we will ponder and improve accordingly. We wish you a good luck in your future endeavors. We are always open to get actionable feedback, and also available to catch up for a coffee if you want to speak further offline or you can share any additional feedback to hr@entropiktech.com.

It’s a hot mess…

Pros

Timely crediting of salary, fancy MacBooks, and a fairly central location that makes it easy to commute to-and-fro. Plus, the Tech itself is pretty novel which makes for good conversations when I meet other SaaS professionals.

Cons

General Stinginess: The company is pretty stingy with attracting or retaining talent. A bunch of us had our designations changed to the next level with no change in pay. The company’s assertion? “Designation bump and pay bumps have no relation to one another”. In addition, they have been unable to scale up their Product and Engineering team all because they refuse to pay the market rate for talent today. Lastly, they have let a lot of good people go in the last 1.5 years, all because they thought they could lose that institutional knowledge and get someone else in on the cheap. They had some big exits in their Data Science team, and decided to replace those folks with half a dozen interns. LOL. Lacking Good Strategy: A large chunk of the current employee base was hired when Entropik was trying to get their Emotion AI technology called Affect Lab off the ground. Since then, the company took some steps to build the product by introducing things like a Shopper Insights module, a mobile app, and then abandoned all those initiatives half way. Now they’ve been building out a tech for qualitative research and putting all bets on it. All this indicates a lack of direction & strategy on part of the Leadership. Who knows what pet project they’ll start working on next? Obsession with Work-From-Office: The company leadership and the HR team have this unhealthy obsession with WFO. Half the HR team probably exists to just walk around the floor, and report folks who are working remotely to the company leadership. Talk to the folks in Engg. and they’ll tell you one reason Entropik is unable to attract talent (besides the stinginess with compensation) is the fact that the company insists on working from the office. They don’t even indulge discussions of a hybrid approach. Clueless and Flip-Flopping HR: Speaking of HR, I feel their sole purpose in the company is to - walk around and check who’s in the office, giggle around with middle managers, and plan silly employee engagement activities. There’s absolutely no emphasis on doing employee pulse check ins, mapping out Professional Development and other activities that mature HR functions do. Ask them some hard questions about the company policy or processes and you might as well be talking to a deer in the headlights. Poor Facilities: While the BLR office location is convenient, the building itself is pretty poor. There is a constant fight for parking slots, there are no good places nearby for snacks, lunch or coffee, and there’s limited seating space around lunch times in the breakout area. For an office hosting 100+ employees, meeting rooms are limited and mostly occupied by the HR team, and VPs who wanted a cabin to stoke their egos. Plus, the air conditioning sucks.

Pros

You can get good salary if you are lucky, until you are fired. You may find good work life balance, some days are hard but overall it is fine.

Cons

Department is overrun by those who don’t contribute much. Only senior engineers and their junior colleagues are actively engaged, while management only assigns tickets and takes extended breaks. The product is immature and relies heavily on copied features. The co-founders lack a clear vision for the company and shamelessly imitate their competitors. Every feature is treated as an urgent requirement, with phrases like “X wants feature A” or “Y wants feature B” pushing for rushed, half-baked development. This mindset stems from a specific co-founder who is not only immature but also unprofessional, showing a clear lack of understanding of the engineering process. There is a clear lack of ethics in their approach to dismissals. When they intend to let someone go, they frequently try to save on weekend salaries. They schedule firings to avoid paying bonuses or increments, making the termination effective immediately. This behavior reflects a sadistic mindset and a complete lack of decency and professionalism. Furthermore, they insert terms and conditions in the increment letters aimed at saving even more money down the line. One of the co-founders often speaks in a way that feels uncivilized and illiterate, which is more than just unprofessional. He frequently interferes in engineering matters despite lacking any real knowledge of the field. It’s a shame to see a degree wasted like that. The organization is missing a strong engineering leader to steer development effectively. There's excessive micromanagement and a culture of both moral and ethical corruption, with even junior engineers demonstrating more ownership than the management. When an engineer tries to take initiative they are not supported instead micromanaged often blamed for delay despite delivering a better quality. Needless to say there is a lack of recognition of their efforts. Management is fixated on the development due date. At the start of each sprint, they ask engineers for rough estimates, but by the middle of the sprint, those estimates turn into a hard deadline that cannot be altered. If the deadline is missed, all hell will break loose. They struggle to identify where to allocate funds and where to cut costs. Despite facing a hefty AWS bill, they only saved a small amount by shutting down servers on weekends. No one is willing to pursue infrastructure improvements, as it demands skills, time, and effort. The work-from-home and leave policy is truly a joke. If you read other reviews, you'll see that HR and the co-founders have invested a lot of time and effort into crafting it, but their focus seems to be on saving every possible penny rather than supporting employees.
