I have been working at Environment Agency full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Interesting and varied work. Site visits in great locations, Flexible working, great colleagues, large support schemes and packages available. Support for career and personal development. Accreditation and chartership routes sponsored and supported e.g. ICE and CIWEM. Remote working generally possible (working from site or home). Large employee assistance services and colleague led groups e.g. for BAME, Mental Health, Fatigue Network to GIS and Project Management think-groups.

    Cons

Lower pay than private (but still quite good) Change isn't always well managed from the top down Onboarding and induction isn't great Hard to advance due to largely set number of positions, and people rarely leave Grade 5-6 higher roles.
