I have been working at Essence full-time for more than a year

    Pros

TIM IS THE BEST CEO I've ever met - genuinely cares and takes time to get to know everyone! Good diversity/ERGs Amazing, genuinely smart people Impressive clients Great culture Great perks - Christmas parties are the besssttt! Perfect for a 1st job out of uni

    Cons

Career development is really not taken seriously with so many talented people passed up for promotion and even the ones who do get promoted do not get offered competitive pay considering how much we do! Don't practice what they preach! Lack of consistency between clients - had an amazing experience on one client then the worst time ever on another client team.

    Cons

There’s a lot of processes but this isn’t a huge negative.

I worked at Essence full-time for more than a year

    Pros

People are very open to work across teams Some of the biggest brands and clients. Very good perks Cool atmosphere and clever bunch of colleagues Great training Flexible

    Cons

Hard working vibe meaning you're much more likely to work until late in the evening than clock off early for drinks Hard to push through promotions Fearful WPP acquisition could kill 'indie agency' vibe

I have been working at Essence full-time

    Pros

    - The people you make friends with are great - Team I am in are great, friendly and fun - Big budget parties, and twice a year - Great place to learn - Seems very on it when it comes to campaigns going live which is better vs other agencies

    Cons

    - The management is really bad and it is difficult to trust them as they kept saying there will be no redundancies then all of a sudden people have been let go. It did not help from Kyoko reading a statement as it just looked like a ransom video, so bad! Management and channel leads were not informed, only found out when people left which is shocking and extremely disrespectful. Which made working harder as we had to suddenly pick up a lot more work in a small team all of a sudden. - Deceitful management team, you will never get promoted unless you are a bootlicker. So many people got 2+ consecutive promotions in 10 months, management denies this but the truth is in the company meetings. - Google is their main and biggest client, without Google, Essence is no more. When Google reduced their advertising spends, Essence got rid of 50% of the company, it shows how dependent Essence are on Google despite their impressive client roster. - Should Google leave Essence, all the tech Essence owns will go as well as they belong to Google, despite Essence creating and building these tools! - Appalling HR team, did not help whatsoever with tax questions or other questions that are important. - Pay is lower than you'd expect for such a lot of work.
