Pros

Flexible work environment with friendly people. The culture is improving, morale is growing in some groups. Free snacks are Friday lunches started few months back.

Cons

Strategy seem to be missing of if present it is not communicated well. High turnover in sales, marketing, and product management groups.

Pros

The engineers are great and you will likely learn a great deal about computer networking and legacy software. Flexible work hours and in house activities are a big plus.

Cons

Politics, intrigue, people quitting all the time and your management suddenly getting canned, my time at Exinda would have made for an excellent TV show. The attrition rate with the goldfish memory level of commitment by product management to achieve anything are the worst aspects of the place.

Pros

Exinda has managed to hire some of the best people I've ever worked with. We've somehow managed to hire some of the best talent. The actual work can be very interesting and there is a lot of room to learn new technologies. Minor perks include snacks that are restocked about once a month and last a couple weeks, and beverages like soda, coffee, tea, and beer. The office space is pretty nice and engineering has a lot of social activities that have made many of us good friends outside of work. Compensation is reasonable although several employees were offered drastically lower salaries than their peers with similar experience. Adjustments were made, however, with a couple employees getting their salary adjusted by upwards of $20,000 per year. So, I'd recommend being careful with negotiation, but do realize that the organization is willing to renegotiate if you realize the salary you accepted is below the value you are adding.

Cons

Management has always approached things with a waterfall point of view, but they have been increasingly putting engineering in the position where even teams that work well with agile need to spend a great deal of time accommodating for an organization that wants to be waterfall. Management in engineering has been "restructured" three times since I joined the company, none of which solved any of the problems that upper management was hoping to solve. Most recently, a manager that was well-liked by his team was let go for another attempt at restructuring engineering management. This manager led the only group of engineers here that would ever rate working here with a 4/5 or more. This sort of move by upper management is the type of thing that just doesn't make sense and upsets us in engineering, but is a recurring pattern. The recent choice to include outsourced engineering is troubling. There has been speculation that upper management is intentionally upsetting engineering in order to have most of the engineers leave, which would justify shutting down engineering in Canada and outsourcing all development. Whether this speculation is true or not, my observation is that the environment is not very positive when employees believe that this possibility could be a reasonable explanation for decisions made by management.
