Pros

Great building and amenities, majority of peers are great people to work with, pay is decent for the area, PTO is generous, and health benefits are slightly above average.

Cons

The most FAKE HR and MANAGEMENT I've ever worked with in my career and as several other reviews have mentioned it started at the top with Craig who at the beginning of his tenure methodically replaced any of his direct reports that had morals, values, integrity and stood up to him - one way or another they were terminated, resigned under immense pressure, or forced into early retirement and they were replaced with incredibly incompetent, mean-spirited, entitled, lazy, power hungry "beautiful" people. If any of the old regime remained it was because they were browbeaten into submission or just the right "fit" for Craig. I liken the culture to Stepford Wives, it really is that bad. Not to mention if you are a performer you are just asked and expected to do more to compensate for the incompetency of these "beautiful" hires with little to no recognition or appreciation. Diversity only exists in the lower ranks and they are treated horribly and paid very little for the amount of work they are expected to do. Salary disparities for the same role were based on gender - if female your salary and opportunity for promotion will be much less than your male counterparts and only for that reason even if you are a higher performer with greater competency. And don't be an independent thinker because that will just result in you having a target on your back by all levels of management, as well as, HR. Good, talented people are put on improvement plans all the time for made up reasons if you do manage to collect that target on your back which is condoned, approved, and encouraged by HR who only supports their little 'mafia' of Managers so there's about a 1% chance of surviving the attack and that's only if you are able to prove discrimination which is rampant, this includes racial, gender, and age discrimination. They have spent many years perfecting their "craft" so be sure to document EVERYTHING from Day 1 of employment. In my tenure, I watched many great, respectable, moral talented people forced out for B.S. reasons and it continues to this day. Non-performers are consistently promoted to management positions because they've spent the majority of their time brown-nosing and going to happy hours with senior management to get into the "in" crowd while competent, hard-working employees are left to pick up the slack and are careful to toe the line and keep their heads down to avoid being targeted - Fear of losing your job is rampant. They say the culture is family with accountability, however, the only people held accountable for their's and even others actions are those who go against the grain and status quo. As my review title states, if you value your mental health, run away and avoid this company at all costs; trust me it's not worth it!

Pros

“All In.” That was the title for our Annual Report, which means that the entire year came with that mantra. I was most certainly “all in.” I landed an awesome job at a company with a culture that was seemingly hard to beat. I even had a manager who cared about my success while managing her team with professionalism and the right amount of stern-ness. Though I quickly found out that the latest office gossip was of high importance to some team members, my experience was off to a good start. Thank goodness because we spent about $10K to relocate for this opportunity! Luckily, I was soon promised to be remote since “you can do your job from anywhere.” What a relief since 95% of the job was handling items outside my base office.

Cons

Well…THAT was short-lived! I soon encountered the absolute most judgmental and biased manager of my career. I found out that the discrimination came straight from the top (race and sexual orientation are the main forms that I witnessed). This discrimination was rampant to the point that some teammates expressed concern to even bring significant others to company events for fear of rude comments and judgement. As another reviewer mentioned, there was SOME diversity in lower ranks. And that is where most of those teammates will remain while they continue to be overworked and underpaid. And guess what? That promise to work remotely…well, THAT went right out the window. Add on top of that the fact that I was forced to adhere to rules that the rest of the office didn’t. In other words, my dream job/company rapidly morphed into a total nightmare. Let me pause to say that yes, there ARE some wonderful people at FCCI that I made meaningful connections with. However, the wrong people advance very quickly. If you are popular and pretty, you will go as far as your heart desires! It is so unfortunate because those who sometimes do not even fully qualify for a promotion are promoted before their counterparts who are very deserving. I was asked to take on multiple tasks from those who were “terminated” since we wouldn’t fill the role in order to save money. Though I worked many nights answering emails/texts until midnight at times, worked during PTO, worked on weekends, almost never took a lunch break…it was not appreciated whatsoever. I once had a car accident while on an afternoon out of the office and still rushed home to complete an imperative task before end of day. ONE teammate…ONE showed any appreciation for that. When this teammate contacted my manager with praise, I was met with crickets. Now back to the extra tasks that I agreed to take on. Not only were those items not appreciated, they were UNPAID. Now, there have been plenty of teammates who received either a raise, bonus, or both when going above the call of duty. When I did confront my manger regarding the fact that there simply weren’t enough hours in the day to take on all of these tasks and still perform my normal duties with the utmost quality, my concerns fell on deaf ears. There was nobody to share these concerns with. I had already been told many times not to say a word about anything going on in the office to a board member and AVP…because I was told this team member just wanted to “seem important” and would only pretend to be interested in my grievances. In hindsight, I wish that I would have voiced my concern on many topics to her because the REAL reason that I was told not to talk to her was that HR would be exposed. Add in the minuscule diversity percentage company wide. The lowest that I have experienced in my career. Embarrassingly low (see popular professional networking site for more insight). Previous reviewers are 100% correct. Much of HR and upper level management is fake. Middle school on steroids mentality. FCCI will seek out teammates who will be likely to leave a positive review in order to balance out this one such as those who have received promotions most recently or are new. I know this first hand. Yes, the company has had bad reviews removed. No, teammates who have been terminated with severance are not able to post a review. These factors create a highly skewed rating. Save your time and sanity. Do your research. Look elsewhere.

FCCI takes your comments very seriously. Feedback is valued and allows us to continuously improve. We are saddened by the missed opportunity to receive and address your feedback earlier. There is nothing more important to us than employees feeling welcomed, supported, included, and valued.

Pros

Benefits and work environment OK for Sarasota.

Cons

Most of the old timers have something on one another, thus you will see people promoted passed their skill set to keep them quiet. Wonder how that HR person got on the board? Wonder why VPs go from IT to Operations? HR protects the ones at the top and the rest of the worker drones, not so much. HR also posts fake positive reviews here to make the company and CEO look good. Technology is a ball of mud anti-pattern of custom hacked code and low quality vendor based systems. FCCI has never had good IT leadership dating back to the 1990s.

In all fairness, we know that being in IT is not an easy role, and it sounds like it wasn’t for you. It is against both Glassdoor’s policies and FCCI’s Core Values to post fake reviews, and I can assure you that our HR teammates are not doing that. We do our best to learn from all reviews that are posted, and we’re encouraged by the overwhelmingly positive responses. We certainly hope you’ve moved on to a position that makes you happier.
