Pros

- The branding side of the agency is great and the creative team produce great work. - Generally nice people work here and there can be a great atmosphere in the office, with lots of laughs and fun together. - Flexible working is generally good. - The agency has moved on from having a lunch/leaving bell to let you know when you can leave for lunch.

Cons

- In my opinion, lack of leadership is really at the heart of the issues with the agency. Senior leadership lack digital and agency knowledge and it impacts the rest of the workforce. For the agency to improve it would need to bring in at least one experienced digital leader to help shape the digital offering and continue to deliver results. - There is an alarmingly high level of digital staff turnover. Over the period of one year FINALLY lost around 12 members of the digital marketing team (which is normally a 4-man team). None of the team members who left lasted longer than a year. The lack of staff retention is symptomatic of the issues with the agency – especially in digital where you’re only as good as the talent you retain. - The agency has lacks tools and software – with most of the team having to share one or two logins to gain access to basic tools to complete their tasks daily. This is particularly an issue around reporting time when everyone needs to use the software at once. This results in delays in report turn around. - It seems to me as if there is an unprofessional and sometimes inappropriate pattern of behaviour that consistently occurs within internal meetings, which could be taken the wrong way or step over the line, especially for junior members of staff. Jokes at the expense of people and remarks that, in my opinion, could be considered inappropriate have no place within the meeting room, or even the office. - From my time at FINALLY, “whimsy” is probably the best way to describe decisions that are made by leadership. It feels like projects are launched into without preplanning or objectives and the direction of the agency and culture seems to sway with the wind. E.g. one week everyone will be focused on how veganism is the best diet, or hiring plans will be made on a whim depending on the day of the week. The agency has a “beg for forgiveness” attitude, rather than plan to get it right the first time. - During my time at FINALLY, none of the digital staff were client facing and all information had to be relayed via an account manager. While this may work for some agencies, to me it was a negative as I could not properly convey my strategies or pick up on client subtext. - If feels like staff treats are decided on popularity rather than merit – staff will be picked based on who will be the most fun to take out to a client dinner or to a conference, rather than the team who worked on the account. - It felt like there was no clear vision of workload or levels of work being completed by team members. Even though so many hours over capacity were being logged, it felt like leadership were obsessed with the department not meeting a high enough deliverable rate. - Pay is generally pretty low compared to competitor agencies and there aren't any publicised pay brackets.

Pros

The design side of the agency often produce some great work and I was lucky enough to work with some creative and experienced people.

Cons

Finally like to be called a ‘family’, but, as many will already know, this translates as ‘unprofessional’ in every meaning of the word, with no impartial HR and no way to raise genuine concerns. Unprofessional attitudes come from the top down with regular negative discussions about clients as well as current and former employees. They are proud of their ‘blag it and see’ attitude to pitches and public speaking. By far the biggest problem at Finally is the senior leadership’s unprofessional attitudes and favouritism. If you happen to be able to win favour with the senior leadership through whatever means, you will be afforded many perks such as being taken out for meals and drinks, going to whichever conferences you want to, and being able to move your role away from doing ‘the work’. Most importantly, you will be defended regardless of your harassing or unprofessional behaviour towards other staff. Needless to say, if you are not a favourite your life can be made very miserable and will undoubtedly affect your mental health. Hours clients have paid for regularly exceeded the number of working hours in the month, and that’s before you consider meetings, reporting, training or extras that crop up daily. Some members of staff have been given titles that neither describe their level of experience nor their role within the company. This obviously has morale implications while at the company, but it also gives an unfair advantage to those ‘favourites’ when they move on. The staff turnover rate is incredibly high which speaks volumes. The examples I could give of this company destroying people’s confidence and having massively detrimental effects on mental health are unending. - People have been told to train up their manager or leave. - Numerous content writers went home one day and were never seen again. - Managers told junior staff to ‘Google it and work it out yourself’. - Senior leadership blatantly lied to staff. - Inappropriate sexual comments have been made. - Senior management ignored all suggestions unless they come from a 'favourite' - even if the exact same suggestion is made by another staff member. - On more than one occasion staff were ignored for their entire notice period.

Pros

- Friendly, motivated team who collaborate well as a whole group, and as individual departments (Creative, Digital, Account Management etc). Quickly feel included in key conversations, and opinions are valued. Even if your suggestion isn't necessarily followed though, there is always room and respect for your input. - Unbeatable sense of trust and autonomy; allowing all to work remotely 100% of the time; keeping to a schedule they want. This is also housed inside within a flexible daily working window, in which allocated “core hours” are provided for tasks, meetings and admin to be undertaken. It means if you want to clock off at 3pm to play sport, go shopping, or take your kids to the park, you can do so with confidence. This really enables each employee a sense of freedom for how they like to complete their work. A rigid system does not suit all, and FINALLY's approach to this is one of the company's biggest USPs. I've never worked for a company which enables so much trust and faith in their staff to deliver without the constant need to space-invade and keep tabs. - Varied spectrum of clients - each with their own unique goals, challenges and targets - which enables a rewarding sense of variety between tasks and topics. Rarely does each day feel identical to the previous, which helps eliminate a sense of workplace monotony. - Well equipped, modern office with great coffee making facilities, private meeting rooms, a pool table, and a workplace in close proximity to major public transport links, supermarkets and other essential shops/services.

Cons

- A lack of staff car parking options due to location, which really isn't a major problem as there are various surrounding streets and boroughs where drivers can park freely; just a short 5 minute walk away from the office. Plus you can always work from home, so you don’t have to be in the office. Also as previously mentioned, the office is also atop of major public transport links, so buses and trains are both good options to travel to and from work if you are heading in.
