An Utter Disaster

Pros

FLYR offers good pay and benefits. An interesting product overall.

Cons

Oh where to begin... The competitive pay and benefits do NOT outweigh the pain of working at FLYR. The business is heading in a horrible direction. After multiple rounds of layoffs and questionable spending practices there is a sense of optimism among the execs, but below that, it's dire. We have no idea how things are going in the business. This is a private company where transparency is key. Employees are left in the dark. Who are our established customers? If you can't share that with your employees, there are some major trust issues. The office politics are as morbid. Nepotism seriously damages the morale and makes it feel like merit does not matter anymore. Blatant leadership favoritism keeps the weak employees in and the promising ones to jump ship.

Pros

Good benefits Good tech stack

Cons

This company is laying off people right now, which is less than a year since last layoff. There’s no explanations from upper management despite sudden let go. They hired people just for pleasing potential customers and not caring about people, let alone career development. If you think deeply in the business model, you can doubt the necessity for airlines. And once the stakeholders are no longer satisfied current money inflow, they fired people. Don’t come to this place if you have other choices. Not much care and passion can be seen from people here.

FLYR is a nightmare

Pros

Good pay for a series C startup. Well funded.

Cons

There are systemic problems at FLYR right now (and for at least the past 9+ months): - The CEO does directly pressure employees to post positive reviews on Glassdoor, as a previous poster mentioned. He’s asked me and several of my teammates to do so. So take those glowing reviews with a grain of salt, and try to connect with people who have actually worked here before you consider joining. The toxicity is real. - Executive leadership has very little emotional intelligence and generally have no idea how to lead people. Which is kind of important for executive leaders to know how to do. They can’t lead people. That’s not good. - Loud voices who drink the Kool-Aid and “speak airline industry” have a disproportionate influence that suppresses a growing crew of technical talent who just want to contribute and grow. - I have never experienced a culture of micromanagement like this. It’s so ingrained in the FLYR way that you start to think it’s normal. It’s not normal, and it’s nightmarish. Starting from the CEO himself, it cascades down. If you want to feel empowered and inspired to contribute and innovate, you’ll be miserable here.
