Pros

99% of people here are really nice and friendly

Cons

salaries are laughable for junior/mid-level staff, especially given cost of living crisis. Quality assurance and junior developers are paid the same (or even less) than IT support staff.

Firstly, thank you for expressing the obvious benefit of working at FX, which is that the team is really nice and friendly! We value feedback and have acknowledged required salary increases in the past and rolled them out, this year we also introduced transparent salary bandings and review these every 6 months. We are a relatively small business that has not taken investment money, ultimately we therefore need to turn a profit and cannot always offer the industry-leading salaries that start-ups and corporates are able to. Our salaries are in line with industry average and we publish them on the job adverts that we place. In recognition of us not being able to pay industry leading salaries we have also recently introduced an EMI scheme to allow us to distribute share options to the team to further reward and incentivise them to stay, this is alongside our already existing profit share scheme in which each permanent team member receives an equal share of a 5% portion of company profits each year. We value people at FX and work hard to ensure they progress, as a result FX is proven to be an exceptional place to start your career and grow, with previous team members moving on to new roles with the likes of Sky, BT, Virgin, BP, ClearScore, and Deliveroo. Those that stay with FX and continue to deliver an impact are rewarded well through a combination of salary, share options, influence in the business and other great benefits. We acknowledge that we have exceptional people that work here at FX, and we work hard to encourage them to stay with us, if they find their dream job is elsewhere we celebrate in their success with them and welcome them back. As a result it is not surprising that FX alumni often return to visit our team at social events including some that are organised here in the office.

Dysfunctional management practices and overall work culture.

Pros

It is a bit challenging to identify many advantages, but if you are fortunate enough to work with a relatively supportive team, the role may offer valuable learning opportunities. You may gain exposure to new tools and frameworks, which can enhance your skill set and better position you for opportunities elsewhere.

Cons

1. The company’s management practices and overall work culture are highly dysfunctional and can be very detrimental to employee well-being. 2. There is a pattern of management engaging in nontransparent communication about employees, as well as limiting their ability to develop or explore new responsibilities. 3. There is substantial employee turnover, which contributes to significant underlying challenges within teams. As a result, employees are often required to take on more responsibilities than initially expected. 4.Given the nature of the work involved, employees may frequently need to carry heavy equipment to and from home. Additionally, because these devices are limited in number, employee office attendance is often dictated by their availability. As a result, the hybrid working arrangement is inconsistent and does not function as a true hybrid model.
