Pros

Some very good people who have been with the company a long time. Sadly these people are leaving the company (possibly a message here ?) Niche product area with high margins that also comes with very high customer expectations.

Cons

The company has not invested well enough in the people / technology during the good times. Now they are been found out and it is painful. The recruiting into senior positions has been very poor with no attention to integration or team building. A bullying culture and a "I know best" means good people leave and there is no visible accountability for "what went wrong" and how can we stop. I was in a senior role and was very bored by the role because of how my boss treated the team and failing to get the best from them because of their controlling and egotistical approach to moving the company forward.

Thank you for your feedback. We regret hearing that you felt a lack of culture was present within the company. We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that Fives sets standards to which Fives' employees conduct their activities. It also gives a clear framework for Fives' management teams - whatever their country of operation, their activity or affiliated historical background.

Pros

A chance to work on some pretty awesome machines, that is about it

Cons

Poor salary, the company seems staffed by an army or grumpy disillusioned miserable old killjoys, led by by Gestapo managers who will use and abuse apprentices to do the donkey work. There is no hr, no staff progression, no bonuses, there is a clear divide between salaried and weekly paid workers. The broad picture is this: if you have ideas, thoughts, are young, degree educated or intelligent,or you are female, this is not the place for you. You will unnappreciated, underpaid, your ideas will be publicly poopooed and ridiculed then later silently plagiarised by someone higher up. The only who seem to thrive are those who have mastered the art of brown-nosing, or have gone through the ritual indoctrination that is apprenticeship at Landis and been successfully tamed, broken and made into inveterate pessimists. I went through this crap, so i will ensure that the next generation of apprenctices do too seems to be the motto at landis. Talented staff seldom stay at landis. The majority of the long serving staff have forever been stuck at the same rig for years . They cannot escape because the minute they got their HNC they got put in that work station, 20 years later, no progression, no transferrable skills, no continous improvement . You're good at tapping holes, so you will tap until retirement. You overthere, you're tapping this all wrong, your jobs are always late or undersize, come ere buddy, i''l make you a manager.... I understand the staff's bitterness and frustration but i cannot understand why intelligent hardworking folk would remain working at this sinking ship where managers and board members throw tantrums, shout at their staff, micromanage, spy on cameras, where bigotry reverse age discrimination ,downright playground gossip and bullying is rife, a place where staff are still when to go pee ,when to go wash their hands..and 20 somethings apprentices are are told to look busy for the managers, even if they're not.
