Pros

Exec comp at FWC is a good career if you like working with big name clients, don't mind tedious work occasionally, and are comforted to be in a semi-recession proof field. Cook left an impression with me because they have managed to form a great collection of intelligent and/or hard-working people. Partners and Managing Directors will not ask you to do anything they have not done themselves; this includes long workdays and sometimes weekends. You will be supported while you are becoming an expert in the field of exec comp. Partners will spend their own time going over work with you and making sure you are learning while doing. You will need to be humble when corrected and spend your own time reviewing mistakes so that you can learn from them. The interview process may seem intense, it is because each office has to make sure you can get along with most everyone. Each office is small, and you will be working together closely.

Cons

Food options around the LA office for lunch are limited.

Pros

View into Board and C-suite strategy Excellent Pay & Benefits (e.g. unprecedented retirement plan) Exposure to anyone at the firm Dynamic engagements and sporadic deadlines contrast with cyclical BAU Best-in-industry firm reputation

Cons

Training and Mentorship is not robust (you must learn on the job) Junior level work is often repetitive Demanding clients/engagements can blow up weekends/nights out of nowhere The skills and knowledge you develop is somewhat narrow (low external mobility compared to generic mgmt. consultant firms)
