To start with, this organisation does not comply with any NGO programme and project management industry methodology of work and standards. This is voluntarism leisure and travel business rather than a non-profit. The worst salaries in the history of the third sector which are always late. They pay highly qualified staff what they call a locally adjusted salary. The salary is adjusted to what disadvantaged, underpaid rural communities get paid for unskilled labor. While at the same time the organisation is working towards fighting social gaps and inequality and supporting 'those who need it most' in improving their standards of living and income level. Complete absurdity! There is constant staff turnover while the organisation is consistently understaffed and all employees overworked. The organisational structure is strongly hierarchical, with a feudal authoritarian management style from HQ. The local hubs and infield staff has little to no decision-making power. There is no communication across the organisation, you only report to and work with your direct manager and no one else. Cross organisational staff meetings are non-existent. Staff simply does not meet in person, virtually or work together ever. You don't know when someone leaves or joins the organisation. There is little respect or acknowledgment of employees and the values of the organisation are pretty much just words on paper. There is no organisational culture or sense of belonging. People join and leave the organisation within six months, one-year maximum, and there isn't so much as an email being circulated to announce that, mostly all being hush-hush, which creates a really awful work environment. There are no training, development or growth opportunities. No work-life balance. Most staff workes over weekends, or several weekends in a role, you are also often demanded to work weekends withouth being given time in lieu of overtime compensation of any kind. The organisation does not provide any kind of compensation or benefits at all. Workdays could easily be 15+h. Overall this is a very demoralising place to work at - both conditions and the way staff is treated is awful.
