Pros

This is a tough job, I don't recommend muscling through it. I was told that the higher-ups do not care and that's very clearly reflected in how employees are treated. Group therapy is fun and the population can be fun; however, there is minimal support. They don't mean to be unsupportive but it's the nature of the work and what's available. Pros: once you get used to it, the curriculum is easy to follow. You get to train with some great clinical directors, they will help you get the certifications you need, trainings count as CEUs, and management is open to feedback

Cons

Documentation is a lot, parole dictates way too much (rules, paperwork) they will ask you for assessments and ignore what you have to say anyway, ethics are not great, no safety precautions despite historical issues, action is hardly taken when complaints are made, pay is not great when you consider the way clients can be and last minute demands from parole.

Pros

If you are interested in forensic work, I recommend working here. I looked all over San Diego County and found Hope offers the most diverse work. There are lots of training opportunities and the company provides CEUs, which I like. I also feel supported by my supervisor and team. The company also offers pretty good incentives.

Cons

Adjusting to the four 10-hour workdays took some adjusting to. A three-day weekend is a perk, but you may find yourself contemplating a five-day work week, which the company does offer, so not a con but something to consider before taking the job.

Pros

coworkers (who stay on longer) are a great source of support and clinical insight

Cons

Management treats you like you have either seriously screwed up or you are about to screw up. There is no flexibility, incredibly poor work/life balance, salary is a joke (barely got a cost of living adjustment when I got licensed), and they reward effective workers with more work.
