Pros

People are generally friendly and nice to work with. Some new members of the HR team look promising.

Cons

VERY profit driven and most parts of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence operate and make decisions based on quarterly P&L. As a result, there has been a tradition of underinvestment in critical areas of infrastructure and process. Finance team have way too much control of the running of the business which results in poor decisions and too much short term focus. Dysfunction exists everywhere and the level of competence for such a big organisation is surprising. Not sure how shareholders put up with it, but squeezing out profit on a quarterly basis probably helps. Lacks an authentic approach to employees and running an engagement survey every 3 years, internal mentoring programs and general approach to talent development feels like a check box exercise rather than driven by a desire to invest in people.

Pros

Lots of interesting tech in use, large company structure if you are keen on switching careers/areas within the same company. A wide range of products and services to learn about. Nice offices.

Cons

Hexagon has interesting new projects but mostly the company grows by buying out other companies and then eliminating the competition by cutting corners/resources from certain areas of the acquired businesses. It is not something new and I guess is normal for companies to profit this way. But it results in very poor employee satisfaction. The general lack of concern for staff wellbeing, no work life balance at all, no growth and learning on the job and eventually leads to a mass exodus of talent (both in positions of management and technical/support staff – take Hexagon’s Production Software BU as an example).
