Pros

Lots of really great people with diverse skills and interests.

Cons

If you aren't an engineer, you're disposable. CEO also wears the hat of Chief Product Officer without the discipline of genuinely understanding product management and it shows. The company is constantly changing gears and shifting priorities on his whim and product managers with years of experience are unable to succeed, taking on more of a project management role.

A good mission, but the culture is suffering

Pros

Many employees are bright, kind people to work with. The problem space of social VR is a great one to work in. The community can be a joy to be a part of, and the overall mission is powerful.

Cons

Everything in the review 'Beautiful Paint Job, Corrosion Under the Hood' is accurate when it comes to the culture at High Fidelity. Women and non-engineers leave due to lack of respect or are laid off despite significant contributions to the company that go unrecognized. You can see the way the company values diversity on their new website's 'Team' page. The employees building the product aren't part of this 'Team', and that's how the company operates. If you share opinions that don't align with the executives, you will likely be in for a rough time where your contributions may be deemed invalid and you end up in a position having to justify your value, over and over again. There is a culture of fearing for one's job among junior employees; the attrition rate is high. The company tries to promote their benefits as showing a flexible work-life balance and unlimited vacation time, but you will be told off for "taking too much time" when an executive disagrees with what your manager has approved of and you will receive passive-aggressive emails about people not being in the office past 6pm.
