Pros

You will be done with work at 1 pm on Friday afternoons. You are to use that time as your appointment time.

Cons

Beware that you are walking into a company filled with upper and middle aged women. There is no advancement - it is an extremely small company and the people who are there, are complacent and for many it's the only job they have ever had so they are blinded by the poor ethics. Your annual raise will be based on how much sick time you have used and how it compares to the company average. If you have kids, you can kiss that goodbye. There is absolutely no work life balance. Upper management does NOT care about your issues. They like people who will sit quietly and pretend nothing is going on. Have an issue you would like addressed? Keep your mouth shut or your head is on the chopping block as soon as they find a reason for it.

Pros

nothing good at this time

Cons

company has under went top management change and it is not for the better. Company has lost any ethics it had. It promotes animal cruelty by letting a customer bring their abused dogsled racing dogs in and trying to paint a picture that the customer loves their dogs?? anyone who thinks making animals run 100 miles a day is not abuse, needs their brains reworked. most employees think Homesteaders can do no wrong... They need to quit being naïve and look around at all the greed. What's next, dog fighting in the parking lot. Homesteaders needs to get it's ethics back and get back on a moral path. The company is sliding down a slippery slope to being just another insurance company in Des Moines. I used be proud to say I work at Homesteaders but lately it has been embarrassing to admit to being an employee there

Pros

Good co-workers and most people are very friendly. A lot of great and smart people outside of most management.

Cons

Upper management is clueless and refuse to listen. All they want is people who mindlessly agree.
