Pros

Having been with the company for over 5 years at this point I've seen my share of ups and downs, but honestly I've never been so happy to have found a company that has given me as much potential for growth (started as a, humble, engineer), whilst maintaining a culture of ownership and autonomy powered by trust and transparency. On top of all that Hospitable only hires exceptionably incredible people and it shows, I have an absolutely blast at work almost every day.

Cons

Hospitable is a lean start up so we are almost always resource constrained - this is known and a given - so some features and fixes can take a little longer to get to which I guess can be frustrating at time, it's nice to work on the new shiny ideas of course. Because Hospitable hires exceptionably incredible people there is a very high expectation bar - not sure this is a con but this isn't a place to come to do nothing or be ok with just ok.

Hospitable Response

We have established beyond doubt that this review was not posted by our former employee based in Tampa, FL. Hospitable separated from our Head of Support (Zachary) in January and left on good terms (with severance + 12 months of healthcare coverage for his family). Zachary accepted the challenge of being our first head of support and taking on a role with a very wide scope of responsibilities. Zachary is as upset as we are that his identity could be impersonated online. We genuinely wish him the best in his new role. Zach is the kindest and most generous person we have had in our team in a while, but he would not have accepted any insult (and rightfully so!) We have a transparent culture, which goes both ways for the good and the bad. We also have a caring culture, encouraging people to take vacation. If you take 25 days off per year, whatever your location, seniority or status, you are rewarded with an extra 10 days off. We party together in good times, and stick together in tough times. No one resigned since 2021 (and our former CTO is back in our team!). While it is sad that we had to separate from any team member who has shared our journey, managers and leaders of the company should be the first to take responsibility whenever the company finds itself in a difficult situation. My compensation is still fully waived as of today. -- PC

Pros

• All teammates are encouraged to make decisions to the best of their ability, and when you need help, you'll find incredibly supportive people all willing to assist. • The culture is something to rave about. You feel part of a team even though we're all remote. Everyone meshes together well, which is a testament to how we hire. • Our customers are fans! We host a bi-weekly Townhall where we present new features, and the attendance steadily grows month after month. It's incredible to see live feedback from our users and how much they love our product and team. • We are always improving our product... fast. I've never worked with a more capable team. We move very fast, not only launching new features but also fixing any bugs that come up. This pace has compounded to create a product that is industry-leading, and we all feel like we're making our customers' lives better because of it. • Transparency is top-notch. Everyone is encouraged to voice their opinions on all topics. There's really nothing out of reach from top to bottom. This helps us feel part of the growth of the company and gives us a sense of responsibility for our success. • The vacation policies are great. You can take time off as you see fit throughout the year. Even if you just need a mental health day. Most requests are generally approved.

Cons

• The fast pace can be really overwhelming. If you don't learn to disconnect and take time for yourself, you can burn out quickly. • Information can be tough to find. Since we have so much going on at all times, it's impossible to stay on top of every single change. Instead, you must build your research skills to find documentation. This often leads to teammates asking the same questions over and over if we can't find the latest documentation. • It's hard to move up. Since we're all fully remote and across different time zones, it's hard to stand out. Unless you're entrusted with a major project where impact is inevitable, standing out in your day-to-day is very difficult. You really have to go out of your way if you're looking to get promoted, which often means working after hours.
