I have never worked for a company where it felt as if there was so much chaos or where leadership made it painful to work there. I never knew one day to the next what I was supposed to work on because I kept being told to change projects. It's one thing to multitask, which is normal, but this was chaos at it's finest. There was no clear direction to me and the peers would so many times have discussions with management to get clear direction. I had many experiences where we would have discussions among ourselves to try to figure out what our priorities were, why developers were writing requirements, and why we were constantly being asked to take shortcuts on quality for the sake of saving a dollar. Even after getting clear direction, most often within a day, days, or a couple weeks, the direction would change. We were constantly being asked where we were with projects even though we were communicating where we were with projects constantly. Some people in the company tried to create and use tools to help manage projects but because projects were in a constant state of flux or we were told to work on different projects, using the tools was nearly impossible. I worked with a really good team at the company and all were very sharp. But I constantly felt like I was running uphill because of the environment. I had been in the industry for a long time and had a lot of experience, knowledge, and connections, but I constantly felt like anything I stated was not just challenged, which is normal, but it never came across as just a challenge. It came across as I did not know what I was doing or anything I said went in one ear and out the other. That is how the environment felt at this company day in and day out.
