I have been working at ICF full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

ICF is a firm on the rise with good comradeship among junior staff and friendly atmosphere overall. Excellent place to start a career with possibilities to move up the ladder. The current office is bright and in an excellent location.

    Cons

The firm's name recognition deserves to be better given the quality of the services it provides and the expertise and qualifications of its employees. Not enough interaction between different lines of business. Nice social events which are a lot of fun.

    Advice to Management

Increase name recognition and make employees proud to be part of ICF. Increase share of revenue from commercial work.

    Pros

Some of the projects you get to work on can be interesting Good coffee in the office Knowledgeable colleagues

    Cons

Low pay No work-life balance and a culture that promotes overwork and being"on" at all times including evenings, weekends and holidays. People might be friendly but depends on the team and the level of stress in the team Extremely disorganised Poor management

    Advice to Management

Pay more and change the culture to reduce stress levels and promote more work-life balance.

      Disapproves of CEO

      I worked at ICF full-time

      Pros

Good colleagues, some possibilities for telecommuting, used to have interesting projects

      Cons

Poor compensation for the amount of work Terrible senior management No long term strategy resulting in constant reorganizations. These are done without much analysis of the consequences or why it would leave to improvements. Chronyism

      Advice to Management

The company does not have an identity due to a constant change in direction. When all resources are being put to buy new businesses, the ones you bought before start their slow death because of lack of support. The innovation that you are trying to push now and/or "big things" are very unlikely since people who actually have technical skills or innovative thinking are leaving the company.

I worked at ICF full-time for more than a year

        Pros

Colleagues in general are friendly and experts in their field. This provides ample opportunity to master your domain and learn valuable consulting skill sets if you are willing to apply yourself.

        Cons

As stated by many other reviewers, ICF materially underpays its staff compared to competitors and the market. This is driven in large part because of the large volume of US federal work that provides the bulk of the company's revenue. Senior management seem to think that all consultants, even those in the high margin commercial sectors, should be paid the same as those doing low margin agency work for the government....
