Pros

The data is quite good and unique

Cons

It was an amazing company and it has been ruined by the MD and his friend aka the CRO. They have no respect for anyone, there is a culture of fear amongst employees. All the good reviews have been written by the managers, this is because they cannot attract anyone let alone someone who has got talent. I wonder how long this can last

Pros

Powerful product and services range, suits the needs of worldwide customers. Plenty of good opportunities to close high-value deals. Some level of training, provided by external consultants. Many team members with multicultural backgrounds and diverse skilsets have a healthy competitive mind-set.

Cons

A new MD took the business unit over in 2019, and since then the entire management got shaked. Usually, it can be a necessary step to adapt to changing markets, however, the magnitude and the related uncertainty made so many colleagues leaving that the beautiful culture got almost destroyed. The new setup is dominated by favouritism between some of the department heads and the climate is poisoned by internal politics. A lot of energy and resources are constantly wasted on internal admin and reporting task as well as the need to maintain the individual profile. Some of the managers focus purely on personal advantages which works against the build of a strong market force with highly motivated teams. In competitive data and analytics environments every possible contribution makes a big difference, but instead the ground is wobbling and personal achievements don't count. Such a pity!! No wonder that so many great talents decided to move on.

Pros

- Permission to WFH - Office location - If you love the Petrochemicals and Energy markets, you’ll be able to read free market updates - Decent Petchem products. - Decent Market Dev team - Miraculously, there are still a few remaining old hands who are actually useful to the company - Really, scratching the barrel here, so will have to stop it at that.

Cons

- If you want to be rewarded financially for your hardwork and achievements (and you don’t belong to a particular “group”) look elsewhere. The fact that they do not reward based on hardwork and commitment shows you their true colours – they do not care for the financial well being of committed employees, outside of their exclusive clique. - Zero recognition of hardwork and achievements to the poor individuals who have to work for amateurish micro managers/micro aggressors who have little idea of what they’re doing. - What previously made the company a good enough place to work for, despite the lower pay, is no longer there: - Poor selection of new middle/senior management who lack both skill and experience needed for them to be useful to the company. - Where roles should have gone to candidates more deserving, sadly, those who suffer are the workers who have to constantly Spoon Feed their managers – in all aspects - which means that you end up being stretched beyond your limit on poorer pay. Although these Managers are good at “managing up,” putting on a glossy veneer of competence, what no-one knows is that, once their strong team member(s) leave – they’ll have Nothing to hide behind. No-one to sponge off. And delivery which could’ve been executed by 1 person will take an entire army. And they end up hiring more + more people to hide the fact that managers really should not have been put in a role that’s out of their depth. - As the mass exodus of talented and very committed employees gather pace, the company’s foundations and growth will take a nose dive. - Ethnic diversity in management still remains an issue. Despite their “inclusive speak.” There is none in SLT, precious few in management, you see more filling a support role – despite their competence. - It’s a job, not a career. - People leave managers, not companies. There are several new incompetent ones who were put in their positions due to who they knew previously, they have zero knowledge of what we sell nor our industry. They have no reason to either - as time goes no, they’re so accustomed to leaning on others. They lose the part of their brain which forces them to actually just learn and think independently. You end up having to babysit them, spoon feeding them on demand, for them to sponge off. More than actually doing the job. This can be a massive productivity killer, later and later nights and can be very destructive. - When you eventually leave, you’ll find it trickier if you do not have a larger brandname on your CV. ICIS is known in Petchems + Gas but if your next job doesn’t involve that, you better think about broadening your CV before joining. - The construction is reminding me more and more of the Boeing 737….
