Shocking company

Pros

They seem to be really really good at deleting reviews on Glassdoor which deserves credit - they must be great at housekeeping

Cons

No transparency at all. Lies are fed to the employees like they're bread and water. One doesn't know who to believe. Autonomy is non existent and micro-management common place. Atmosphere is toxic. Violence on nights out has happened in the past (albeit with the previous CEO in charge so that might've changed - hopefully) Bad management. Rumours kill the company. Amateur managers that don't lead by example -quite the opposite. I would not recommend the CEO from an employee perspective. Great at balancing the books at the price of culture and job satisfaction. Promotions are based on 'buttering up' rather than merit. People were let go who actually deserved the opposite and people were promoted who deserved the opposite. Employees are treated disgracefully once they leave. There's no support for them in the slightest.

Thanks for your review. I think you will find that we cannot "delete reviews" on Glassdoor as you allege. As I have responded to in prior posts, your review appears to be based on is the "old" company from 1+ year ago where rumors and buttering up were maybe the norm (I wasn't here so don't know) and I have no idea what you are referring to as to violence on nights out. Today, Import.io is a strong, well funded, rapidly growing company with a positive culture and team environment. I am sorry that you were not a part of the current company.

A cautionary tale

Pros

Energetic team. Employees willing to go the extra mile to support eachother.

Cons

Leadership/CEO management is very poor and reactionary, little to no support until the last moment, great at demoralising people for the smallest detail, planning seems to focus on the vision but with little substance to the actual details/pitfalls. Changes on bi-weekly basis with almost no process or workflow behind it to support efforts. "Putting out fires" are the norm, resulting in a lot of burnout A lot of scrutiny without feedback (you learn by getting feedback), this results in employees communicating as little as possible. Expecting top quality from you but with little to no training on many aspects. Overall toxic environment with no room for growth. A tech company that decided to wipe out the whole sales engineering department is a BIG red flag

Not the company it used to be

Pros

Thanks to the previous CEO there are very good benefits, free lunches, yearly offsite, good desks and chairs, equity. The environment is young and there is a lot of energy.

Cons

I'm not sure if the pros are still valid. Since the arrival of the new CEO (on this website the information are outdated, David White is no longer the CEO), the company moved to a co-working space and many people have left. The relationships between employees were so good that we have now created a Slack group to keep in touch. I'm not even sure if the company still wants to invest in uk and hire uk based people, another loss for the uk startup environment. Also some review that have been added recently don't feel honest to me.
