I worked at Informatica full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Probably the best reason was that it was (and still is) a market leader and set the bar for innovation in the space of Data Management. It still is after all these years (somehow) an independent and as such Informatica is able to set the direction in which all others follow. Being an independent gives it so much freedom to direct the product in whatever way they see fit and a lot of the time these decisions were quite good.

    Cons

Back in the day Informatica hired bright out of the box thinkers, somewhere along the line it became all about the politics, you play the political game well, you will achieve a lot. Also be prepared just to follow the words and desires of the people you report to, independent thinkers are just not listened too. If you are innovative and care more about your customers than the numbers, you probably wont do well at Informatica.

    Advice to Management

You lost a lot of good people over the years through bad leadership.

I have been working at Informatica full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Best company I ever worked for. Awesome offering with major investement in exciting new technologies, so you really have market leading competitive products to sel! Great company ethos and culture, they really treat you as a valued individual and corporate social responsibility and other initiatives are not just window dressing. Spirits in the office are high, so you want to be there, everybody supports each other, the structure is there to support the sale with pre-sales, industry consulting and specialists in most areas. Systems are mostly modern and some weaknesses are adressed. Clear processes for governance and approvals. More training after the US sheepdip onboarding - online and face to face, so you are really enabled as a sales person to achieve reasonable targets and exceed TCV .

    Cons

Still looking for any major one's, but all recommendations for improvement are desired and followed up by management.

    Advice to Management

Small enhancements in onboarding, so organisation and processes are explained early on would accelearate time to efficiency even more!

    Pros

Interesting technology which is rapidly being developed, market leader, good team of people. The means to do a proper job are there.

    Cons

Since going private the bean counters have been in charge, and the atmosphere has degraded. Lots of good people have left or are considering leaving.

    Advice to Management

The capital of a technology company is its people - that might be a cliche but is no less true for that. At the moment you're destroying the heart of what was once a great company.

    - great culture
    - extremely talented colleague
    - strong product range
    - good market position

    Advice to Management

Focus on outcomes achieved by each team member and reward/promote accordingly. Failing to do so drives the best performers into the arms of Informatica's competitors.
