Pros

None, unless you are in love with doing 5+ hours of meetings per day.

Cons

The company is currently laying off employees due to the inability to get customers. It makes sense since our best salesman jumped ship and the current customers are starting to get wise to the lack of value in paying thousands for the services of our "data engineers" (a significant portion of whom have nothing more than a high school diploma). I have been unscathed so far, but I fear that I will be part of the next round of layoffs. The senior management vastly overestimated their growth, and now all of us employees that they supposedly care so much about are going to be paying the price when we could have taken roles elsewhere to begin with.

Unfortunately, this year’s economic crisis hit the technology sector heavily and financially impacted many of our clients, and consequently the services we provide to them. Although we strive to care for our people as best as we can, amidst a financial downturn layoffs are sometimes inevitable. However, we did our best not only to be fair to the people we had to part ways with - providing them with access to free online courses and extended family benefits plans while on temporary layoff - but we also worked hard to get back on track with our remaining employees, and we are glad to report that we did. In fact, we were able to bring a few of our laid-off employees back to Infostrux, and we are on a growth trajectory again. We understand how difficult a situation like this can be for our team, but we also recognize the many lessons learned, the staff who stood by our side through thick and thin, and the opportunities that arose from these difficulties, and today we are a stronger team and organization for it. Our people continue to be our most valuable asset, and we will continue to care for them as best as we can.

Pros

This is a remote workplace so we gets lots of flexibility when it comes to work location, hours, equipment. There’s a stipend to cover equipment/internet needs and a good benefits plan. The team is mature, smart, chill, and they really operate from a place of trust and ownership, so we all get to make decisions and run our projects. Because the company is still fairly new, we get to build many things from scratch which I really enjoy. Right now we are at around 50 people, so we still know each other by name, but have a good, solid team to work with. Kima is an amazing leader and I’d follow him anywhere. I really enjoy working there!

Cons

As far as I know the company isn’t profitable yet as they are making investments to grow, but they have a solid client base and a strong partnership with Snowflake which is a good sign. As with most companies at that size, some additional benefits like rrsps haven’t been implemented yet, but hopefully we will see that get added as the company grows.

Pros

The work at Infostrux both from the DevOps and Data Enginneering perspective is challenging, however, satisfying due to the complexity of client needs. The company has a full-time work-from-home environment which can be great for employees work/life balance. The Infostrux team are skilled individuals with a culture of sharing ideas and experiences, which provides an excellent resource for people looking to learn and expand their experience in DevOps and Data Engineering.

Cons

Due to the complexity of the work, this requires significant and continuous self-education to keep up with the industry, not everyone is cut out for this demand.
