Toxic, short-sighted management

Pros

- Most of the people are smart, passionate, friendly, and really want to do the right thing. - Good location, close to BART, with a beautiful view of the bay. - Decent work/life balance most of the time.

Cons

- Management is pretty toxic. The degree of politics, favoritism, and nepotism is just gross. - Exec team’s approach to legal compliance, employee/contractor classification, and site security is super sketchy. More “what can we get away with” than “what’s the right thing to do.” - Negotiate well for your initial salary. It’s not likely to go up much over time, even if you get promoted.

Pros

Free lunches, great view, smart engineers

Cons

No real product innovation and constant changing of priorities. Leadership looks unstable after losing strong people in the last few months.

Pros

- Genuine nice people, talented engineering - Free snacks and food - Great work-life balance - Profitable

Cons

Honestly, I used to enjoy coming to work everyday since we had a lot of potentials to grow. In the past few years leadership has made several questionable decisions though. It's sad to say that I will be looking soon. - Our strategy is not clear other than acquiring and converting one more customer per day. I am not sure how my daily engineering tasks relate to the growth of the company. Where's our product vision and strategy? The 1PP has zero accountability - You get promoted if you are in the inner circle, or get alienated if not. Recent promotion of someone with zero relevant experience as acting-VP is a joke - Company has made some questionable decisions in the past few years, dismissing or alienating some of the good talents in Marketing and Product. - Extremely short-term focus!! - When things are not doing well, leadership blames the engineers for our "execution" - Some of the longer-tenure employees are feeling the burden and starting to leave the company or interview - Micromanaging - feels like people are being watched based on the number of hours in the office
