Pros

Flexible Friday work, Very Simple Low Level work.

Cons

Several bottom league countryside companies in the UK were re-branded as Jacobs in the UK. All senior engineering staff I experienced in a few office are in fact technician level. I joined here planning communication with US and world and set up my own team using my skill. However, the company has no communication/project sharing system with the US, even outside your local office. If you are engineer with degree, just ignore this company in your mind.

Pros

9 Day fortnight work pattern Very competent employees Not much else i feel classifies as a pro in my short time here

Cons

Lack of job specific training for Mid/Entry Level Employees Push for Billable time the only important metric communicated to staff, which is sometimes unethical Too many titular roles with no responsibilities = Delivery staff carrying dead weight

Pros

Pay is acceptable at middle/ higher levels. Some divisions benefit from the' large conglomerate' business model. The brand is well recognized in some markets, eg USA. The existing client base helps some sectors/ groups to keep chugging along. The group has now re-branded the advisory arm to overcome some of the bureaucratic challenges.

Cons

Highly bureaucratic and process-oriented. Large size is restricting its ability to move fast, especially in new markets. General environment not conducive to a sharp, flexible consulting division. Culture of acquisition of smaller firms without adequate integration has left senior management fighting for power and lowering the energy and morale in some teams. Limited opportunities for junior staff to grow unless they are pushy. Traditionally male-dominated engineering style of operations- although recently some effort to be more diverse.
