Pros

-Salary (but won’t last long)

Cons

Got poached from a job that I was very secure in to come work at this terrible office. Marvin the manager told me we would be working together everyday. After being at the company for 4 months I probably saw and spoke to Marvin maybe for all of 30 minutes during that time. Got passed off to work with the other buyer Zak who refused to sit with me and show me how things should be done. Marvin the manager also explained that Zak was busy and maybe wouldn’t be able to teach me. I thought that was super interesting that you would bring on a new hire without giving them an ounce of training. Zak would not even respond to emails answering questions. Could tell he did not want to pass off the category in which I was told I would be managing and treated me like his assistant although we were in the same role. Would communicate to my vendors without my knowledge leaving me with not much to do. Would reach out to him and Marvin for additional work to do with no answer. Could tell there was a superiority complex with the men in the office as if men were better and smarter than women. Most of the time the men in the office wouldn’t even look at me which most people in the office claimed it was a “hasidic thing”. Ultimately got an email over a holiday weekend eliminating me and my role from the company. Didn’t even have the courage to get on a call or tell me in person. Would 100% not recommend joining this company. Would not go back even if they offered me a million dollars.

Pros

Onsite parking if you can pry a parking pass out of their artifact of a CFO. Nice view by the water where you can cry daily.

Cons

Rampant nepotism and favoritism, pay disparity between male and female employees, consistent micromanagement. No room for growth and blatant religious bias. An overall boys club for Jewish men. Horrible insurance, no 401k or IRA options. Most staff are now outsourced from a shady employment agency in queens that exploits recently immigrated Carribeans. Little to no promotions from within and disorganized management that provide little to no support. In appropriate verbal behavior from CEO and president who are both married and view their employees as people who “take their money”. Raises are non-existent and take months to go into effect even if approved and it’s the bare minimum. Company loyalty is an imaginary term here. Hardworking employees are overlooked daily and the turn over rate is volatile. It is utterly and essentially a place where you can get exploited in every way possible while being made to feel like a criminal whose contributions deserve a minuscule nod at best. It is a place where hopes and dreams go to die. Where education and healthy curiosity is met with frustration and mistrust instead of nurturing encouragement. A place where potential is stifled. This is the foundational ambiance of Jomashop. A confidence killing hellhole that takes root and permeates like virus that feeds on complacency and subservience. YOU CAN DO BETTER!!!

Pros

Available parking. Annual bonus. You get to leave early on Fridays if you work in the warehouse.

Cons

Lack of communication (unless you count the owner and/or supervisors) blaming you for something you can't control and/or warn them about. Management loves playing favorites and treat the hard workers like crap. No motivation to speak up and/or do better due to lack of praise, trust, and/or even accused of sabotage. Also, the backstabbing is right up there with the Trump White House. Real owner is Marvin Sternberg. HR is non-existent. Owner acts like Donald Trump.
