Pros

Nothing is positive here, stay away!

Cons

As a staff software engineer who has had the misfortune of working with Juniper Square, I can confidently say that this company is an absolute nightmare. From the moment I began working with them, I encountered a litany of problems that made it clear to me that this company is entirely unfit for the modern tech industry. First and foremost, the technology at Juniper Square is severely outdated and inadequate. The tools and systems they use are antiquated and clunky, making it almost impossible to efficiently complete even the simplest tasks. As someone who has worked with cutting-edge technology at other companies, it was beyond frustrating to be forced to work with such subpar tools. Furthermore, the company culture at Juniper Square is incredibly toxic. The management is incredibly disorganized, lacking any clear direction or goals for the team. The senior leadership is incredibly out of touch, and often ignores the needs and concerns of the engineering team, leading to a sense of demoralization and frustration among the staff. In addition, the company's development processes are archaic and inefficient. There is no clear process for reviewing code, and as a result, the codebase is riddled with errors and inconsistencies. The lack of proper documentation and testing procedures also leads to constant bugs and issues, which are frustrating to deal with and create more work for everyone involved. Overall, I would not recommend working with Juniper Square to anyone in the tech industry. From the inadequate technology to the toxic culture and outdated development processes, this company is a complete disaster. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for employment.

Pros

If you want to stretch in your career, this place will definitely let you do that (and continue to stretch you / use you / burn you out). This isn't because the place is "fast paced" - it's really not that fast paced at all. You'll experience a lot of growth here.

Cons

The company will burn you out. And then try to offer you to take time off or take advantage of a "wellness week" and still schedule meetings for you to attend during that intended time off. And you won't be appreciated for the work you do. Be warned.

Pros

There were some nice and hardworking people here, however they have laid off most of them. Pay was decent.

Cons

Where do I even begin? I was lied to throughout the interview process--about success of the company/product, client base, work-life balance...The list goes on. Why even promote that you do "No Meeting Wednesdays" when it's not true in the slightest? I worked more here than I have anywhere else in my entire career. You will get slacks/emails on the weekends and late evenings. I never got to use any of my "unlimited" PTO. The work life balance is the opposite of what they make it out to be. Job isn't secure, they've had 4 rounds of layoffs in the last year (maybe more, who knows) and likely more to come. They get rid of the employees who actually work, but hold onto higher level members who have no idea what they're doing. But they'll be put into new managerial or c-suite position despite having no experience in that function because they know someone. Result? A top heavy company that is completely unorganized, spinning its wheels. The solution offerings are a disaster. Software hasn't had significant improvements for a while and is prone to bugs. Fund Administration grew too quickly and several clients are unhappy/leaving over false promises. Accountants are completely burnt out so they're more prone to making mistakes or leaving. There's no other way to describe it than a mess quite frankly. Instead of listening/implementing employee feedback, they continue the same cycle laying people off while they continue to coordinate pricy off-sites. They did just hire a CFO after being without for a few years, so maybe that will help? Either way I wouldn't sit around and wait. Much better places to take your career and skillset. Did I mention there's no clear path to growth/promotion? When you do well, you'll likely be next on the chopping block instead. While we all know that layoffs are present in the market right now, there's several companies handling them in a much better manner--with less frequency as well. Layoffs aside, that only scratches the surface of all the other stressors at JSQ. Overall just feels like a sinking ship...on fire...with way too many captains all running around...so nothing gets done...and they've thrown most of their crew overboard of course.
