Pros

Opportunities to do a lot of tasks that reach far beyond your area of assignment and expertise. Smart colleagues dedicated to making a difference

Cons

Human Resources team is a group of people hand selected based on previous working relationships. They guard their brand of culture, even when it means doing the wrong thing for the organization. Engagement is a term that is flung around but no real commitment to improvement of employee engagement. Just fear-mongering so that people no longer complain.

Pros

As far as customers are concerned the company genuinely seems to care about children and their education. Frequent programs to encourage reading or learning and lots of involvement in the community. Pay was really good for the job. Business casual dress code.

Cons

My first boss never came out of his office to interact with the team, he emailed us from home to let us know he'd quit and would be using up the last few weeks of his saved vacation. My next supervisor was really great but was in charge of our department and a separate more travel intensive department so she couldn't keep us. My third boss tried to blackmail me for a promotion, HR had a talk with her but to my knowledge no formal reprimand and she worked for another year. My fourth boss in three years selected her favorite agents to be unofficial supervisors so she could manage her other team upstairs, the people selected were unprofessional and had no seniority and made life miserable for everyone around. I was let go this year because of "misuse of employer equipment" and told an inappropriate email was sent from my computer but no email was provided, no details about contents were given, and my team was told I'd gotten a promotion elsewhere. At the risk of coming across like a bitter former employee I really think this company is poison to a healthy worker.

Pros

Working with peers who believe in and are passionate about providing high quality environments for children.

Cons

Recent shift in company to run as a retail environment. Leaders with ECE backgrounds are being pushed out and replaced with retail leaders. The company and culture is changing and not for the better.
