Cons
Do not expect to be involved with anything other that what your immediate team are doing, if you're contractor you won't even be given the chance to attend company wide meetings when your work is being demonstrated! Management will make all the expected noises to show they're interested in how you're doing, but they won't respond when you give them feedback. While they like to bring in people with a wide range of computer language knowledge, they are seriously lacking in people with the right skills and experience of administering large distributed projects. There's a palpable desperation to find good developers, which isn't made easier by the numerous hoops candidates are expected to jump through. In fact they will bring on contractors and, if of a good standard, will try to convert them to perm using the 'stick' of only a short extension as leverage. There seems to be a lot of confusion about what to build and, while there's loads of diagrams and planning, there doesn't seem to be a will to get things moving in a cohesive direction.
