I have been working at Lloyd's Register full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Clients are interesting Interesting problems to solve Well respected in the market place Owned by a charity Skilled workforce

    Cons

Too internally Focused Financially focused above everything else Month end driven

    Advice to Management

We are not a PLC and have shareholders or share price to worry about. So why transfer all your resources at month end to invoicing at a time your clients are chasing their real month ends and struggle to contact anyone. Surveyors cannot get to clients as they are being hassled to interim invoice contracts. But when KPI are based on monthly targets, people will only work on what they are measured on. We need to... smooth this activity out, because the billable hours that are wasted chasing numbers is significant.

    Negative Outlook
    No Opinion of CEO

I worked at Lloyd's Register full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Sense of purpose in profits distributing towards charitable, educational causes

    Cons

Management has very little awareness of the complexities of their organisation. Poor investment in rejuventating the company through downturns, lack of visibility from HR and other corporate structures, etc Let's not even mention the disastrous SAP rollout during a period of absolute austerity and layoffs -- which ended with the management being promoted!

    Advice to Management

Get back to basics and out of the clouds

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Lloyd's Register full-time for less than a year

    Pros

None that I can think of?

    Cons

This is a institution and well known business that is wholly focused on global accounts and is also focused on success factors and employee behaviour, which is ironic when senior management behave like bullies and close rank, employees going off sick with stress and clients leaving in their droves..

    Advice to Management

Try some black box thinking and move away from the closed loop culture. Senior managers should be held culpable when they do not meet their behavioural competency which seems to be the businesses obsession.
