Really great company if you can handle the occasional bad apples

      Pros

Benefits, Culture, Business & Society Value, Respected, Interesting, Learning & Development, Fantastic Colleagues, Great collaboration across the Corporation, Awesome History, (mostly) great senior/executive leadership, Professional, Inclusive and gives back to the community

      Cons

A history of occasional senior leadership team hires that come in and destroy the culture in their sphere of influence. Prima-donnas advancing their own cases. Resignations and scapegoat dismissals follow - sometimes those the Corporation can least afford to lose.

      Pros

Great work life balance Pay is competitive Good benefits package/discounts

      Cons

The company reels you in with an FTC (fixed term contract) which is basically employing you as a full time/permanent employee of the company but with a fixed end date. The company will review your progress and extend the contract every 6 months for a maximum of 2 years. Then they can either meet you go or offer you a permanent employee status. Hiring so many as FTCs means that if the company needs to make cuts they can easily remove employees simply by not renewing contacts with no redundancy implications. This week alone (as it is near year end) they told 50-60 employees on other projects that their contracts will not be renewed. I myself have reached the end of my 2 year maximum and cannot be extended further. I was actually promised to be made perm months ago but this did not materialise. Another issue: The company has serious issues with harassment, especially for young women. A simple BBC news search on the company will highlight these issues. I myself have been subjected twice and raised 2 HR issues which fell on deaf ears. In addition, the hierarchy and management structure of the company is about 20 years or of date

      Not so great

      Pros

The benefits package is really good

      Cons

There have been a number of people hired who just do not have the skills needed to do their roles leading to some crazy decisions being made. How can a company go from huge expansion and opening a new office in Manchester to slashing major programs of work, not opening their promised office, 'mapping' peoples skills to roles available and the possibility of redundancies in the space of just 4 months, this is a company where things have gone very wrong.

      Pros

Benefits system is good and promotion of staff well being

      Cons

Slow pace of progress with everyday tasks due to ineffective processes and constant changes. Makes this a chaotic environment that is extremely frustrating to work in if you like to see progress in your work.
