      Be very careful - questionable ethics

      Pros

      Theoretically interesting and challenging work, if the environment would allow to do so.

      Cons

      Intransparent leadership leads to atmosphere of mistrust within the company, frequently causing employees to leave. This makes work on the product nearly impossible. Employees are misled about benefits and working conditions. Questionable conduct around financials and bill payment is bringing employees repeatedly in extremely uncomfortable situations.

      Unfortunately, I cannot come up with any pros.

      Cons

      There is an incredible disconnect with the CEO/senior leadership and the rest of the company. Questionable actions are taken, misleading sales tactics to gain customers with false promises, and lack of transparency are only a few of the issues at Loko AI. The CEO constantly tries to reassure the company is doing well without disclosing any financials, while employees can easily see how much money is flowing out of the firm. The firm allowed health insurance to lapse on working employees putting them and their families at risk. Pay checks were frequently missed and took a great deal of time to sort out. When in time crunches, leadership belittled the engineering team for asking for more resources. Upper management wanted to force employees to work more to get more output, even when the engineering team was already putting 120% into their work. The CEO has NO respect for his employees. This firm is toxic. Stay away.

      Exciting Projects and Great People

      • Fantastic company culture, full of friendly and hard-working people • Exciting projects working on cutting-edge machine learning technology • Nice hybrid approach to remote work - plenty of comfort working from your own home but it's not all Zoom calls; in-person work is only as-needed until COVID is better contained but we meet a couple times a week otherwise • Employees are treated really well, fantastic benefits, competitive pay • The core team is still pretty small but growing fast right now, great time to join • The company's future is looking very bright - lots of exciting, long-term work coming in recently

      Cons

      • There will rarely be a slow day, the team is lean and constantly working hard • The projects are often challenging and require alot of independence • You will probably need to step a little outside the bounds of your job description to get work done sometimes

Often, our customers will ask us to develop features that have never been developed before which can be very challenging and rewarding as mentioned in the review. The CEO is highly aware and on the pulse of the company and is always adapting to the needs of customers and employees alike.
