Finding its rhythm

Pros

I joined because the mission felt real, the product was solving an actual problem, and there were a lot of smart people who genuinely cared about doing good work. The people have been the best part for me. There is a lot of talent here and it can be a really energising place to be. I have seen the company get clearer and more structured over time. Expectations feel better defined, there is more consistency than there used to be, and it feels less reactive. There is also more clarity on what good looks like and how you can grow, which makes a big difference in a start-up. It feels like the business has the support to keep improving, which gives it a more stable feel than a lot of companies at this stage.

Cons

It is still a start-up, so things move quickly and priorities can change. Not every team feels equally mature yet, so your experience may depend on where you land. The company has been through a lot of change, and that naturally takes time to settle across every team. If you want lots of certainty or a lot of hand-holding, this probably is not the place for you.

What stands out is that the things you value most, the people, the mission, the sense that the product is solving a real problem, are exactly what we want to be known for. It is genuinely good to hear that the talent and energy in the business still feels tangible to you day to day. That is something we work hard to protect as we scale. Your observation about the company getting more structured and clearer over time is something we recognise and are encouraged by. Defining what good looks like, building more consistency around feedback and growth, making those things feel real rather than just stated, that work is ongoing and we know it is not finished. Your point about maturity varying across teams is a fair one. The growth and maturity of teams is rarely linear, and leadership are acutely aware of that. The focus is on making sure the improvements already made in parts of the business are felt more consistently everywhere. The honest framing of the cons is appreciated too. Fast-moving environments are not for everyone, and we would rather people know that going in. What we can keep working on is making sure that pace comes with enough clarity and support that it feels energising rather than unsettling. The advice to management is well taken, and it maps closely to where our own focus is. Thanks again for sharing this so thoughtfully; this is exactly the type of feedback that helps us to continue ensuring Lunio is a great place to work as we scale!

Pros

Very supportive team. People are willing to listen to concerns and at times make adjustments. Remote and flexible working which means work/ life balance is good. Easy to make an impact and add value. CPTO is easy to communicate with and well aligned. Home office budget after probation. Chance to travel with expenses covered within reason. Training budget and opportunities to attend conferences. Multiple roles in one makes work interesting and stimulating. Always learning on the job day to day. Get to work with passionate and skilled workers. Wellbeing budget which can be used on gym, therapy and so on

Cons

Sadly there are residual anxieties due to historic decisions and pressure. The reviews here make that very apparent. A bit more could be done to alleviate anxieties and assure/ support people. Continuous high workload, but this is normal in a start up as teams are smaller and you are expected to pick up 3+ roles in one. Communication could be better but as the business grows I imagine this will improve through collaboration and repeat messaging.

That sense of psychological safety, where people feel they can raise concerns and be heard, matters a great deal to us, and we're pleased it's coming through in day-to-day working life. The flexibility and hybrid-working model is something we believe in strongly, not as a perk but as a genuine enabler of sustainable, high-quality work, so it's encouraging to hear that's landing well. The breadth of the role, the chance to travel, the training budget and wellbeing support are all things we've invested in deliberately, and knowing they're adding real value is useful to hear. We hear the point about anxiety and uncertainty, and we don't want to brush past it. Even when the direction of the business feels positive, a lack of context or communication can leave people feeling unsettled, and that's something we take seriously. Your advice about empathy and open dialogue is well placed. As the business grows, we know that repeat messaging and genuine two-way communication become more important, not less, and we want to keep improving on that. Lunio Listens, our employee voice group, and the anonymous feedback form both exist as real routes for people to raise exactly these kinds of concerns, and we want people to use them. Feedback like yours, offered candidly and constructively, is what helps us understand where the gaps are between our intentions and people's lived experience. The workload point is one we take seriously too. You're right that wearing multiple hats is part of the reality of a scale-up, but we also know that clarity, prioritisation and support structures make a meaningful difference to how that feels. We'll keep working on that and are intentionally setting up a Ways of Working steering group to address these types of scale-up growing pains.

Remote work is great, but negativity is pervasive

Pros

Fully remote and expectations are nothing above other companies within tech space

Cons

So many negative people especially within engineering who form their own clique and encourage people to negatively review the company, they even have their own group to complain to each other. Left because of how depressing they all are.
