I have been working at LyondellBasell full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pay. -Start at $27.71 - 1st qualification $33 and change -2nd qual $35 and change -3rd qual $41 -4th qual $45 and change (topped out)

    Cons

No real pension (3k for every yr served till retirement) Batch process is not the way to go if you can choose. (Look for continuous). Non union (is this a con?) Point system if late, sick, car trouble have to leave early, etc. 3pts = Hr meeting. 4pts=termination in a rolling yr. Ex: - call in sick .5pts (dr. Note doesn't matter) Leave early .5pts Late for any reason .5pts Call in 1 day that's a full... point Call in for a full set that's 2pts You cant transfer to another location in the company. The only movement allowed is up. If you finish a degree in something that is not considered by management as a lateral move. You are better off quitting and reapplying (who would do that?)

    Advice to Management

Take the reigns back from the supervisors. Treat people's opinions seriously. Safety concerns need immediate attention instead of being passed on to the next person. Allow operators to write all work procedures and consult us on changes in safety before they are implemented. If anyone asks a question get back with them instead of just making a change in something that fixes nothing. All ideas are not good ideas... (ideas should be presented to those it may effect to see if its something everyone wants, not just a select few.) Things that need fixing should not be shrugged off cause operations found a work around. Work arounds (aka rigged) is a temporary bandaid, not something we should have to live with.
