Good teammates, broken culture

Pros

My team was genuinely so smart and kind, and working alongside them was one of the highlights of my time here. MNTN meets were well organized and fun. Benefits package is competitive (though salary is not). Good work life balance. Very family oriented.

Cons

Career growth here has very little to do with the quality of your work and is driven almost entirely by politics: who you’re aligned with, how well you manage up, and whether you’re in the right social circle. Different perspectives are routinely dismissed, even when they come from the person with the most relevant domain expertise. Leaders with big egos have cultivated a culture where agreement is rewarded and constructive feedback is not. Strategy shifts are constant and poorly communicated, creating lots of thrash and leaving teams perpetually reactive instead of focused. No raises unless you’re promoted which they also don’t do often.

Pros

100% remote job. I personally really appreciate the effort the company puts in to wellness initiatives, connecting remote employees, and just generally trying to do nice things. A lot of room to make an impact. People have been incredibly nice to me and all of the new hires I've seen; no one yelling, no insane deadlines, etc. Company is profitable. Work life balance is generally good; we get one three day weekend a month, we get a vacation stipend. Ad tech space is basically about printing money.

Cons

The company is laying people off because they're not happy about the stock price. Some of the people I work with are nice, but I can't necessarily say they're smart. The reason there is room to make an impact is that there's a lot of room for improvement in the tech stack. I think some people need to set better boundaries about when they're doing work.
