      Well conceived company but product focus split and new management clueless

      Pros

      The company was well funded with top venture capital firms and it had the backing of a few major top tier banks. It also had landed some major companies. There use to be some very good software developers at the company, but they are almost all gone.

      Cons

      It could have grown to be successful but new management that joined split the company resources to go after front-end trading business and merged with a company that was a total failure. The sales staff cannot sell, they would even fail selling Facebook free access.

      Still a startup atmosphere, be prepared to work hard

      Pros

      Wear jeans to work every day. Excellent medical/dental/FSA benefits provided by outsourced HR. Developers coming from a large corporation will be relieved to be unencumbered by bureaucracy. Sysadmins do an good job of providing enterprise-quality dev infrastructure on a budget. Development is agile and there is a solid SDLC process. Could be a could gateway job to a career in equities/options trading.

      Cons

      Be prepared to work 10-12 hour days to keep pace, and more at crunch time. PTO policy is archaic and uncompetitive, and there is no sick time. Don't expect to be paid comparably with developers putting in those kind of hours in midtown Manhattan. Don't expect a bonus, no matter how hard you work. Good people get laid off when money is tight.

      Pros

      Some very good technical people who are an enjoyment to work with when the politics don't interfere.

      Cons

      For a software company the management show a stunning lack of understanding of software development. Products developed and never sold. If you take satisfaction in seeing what you develop get used and getting positive feedback on you work this is not the place for you.
