Pros

there are no pros to working in this company

Cons

a company in crisis. A clear lack of values - The values they practice, not the ones they write in their "maria yee" or "sun at six" brand statements. This result in management (a family of 4) saying all the things they think you want to hear, whether it is claiming to their clients that pieces are handmade while actually working on automation, or proclaiming they appreciate work while giving no raises or benefits to their employees, they inevitably fail to practice what they preach and go into hiding when they are asked of these failures. With their lack of values, their motivation is only the bottom line and an incredible sense of narcissism that closes them off to any sound advice or suggestion, and instead operates daily on telling lies to clients and employees. The leadership rules by decree, micro-managing every aspect of the business, exhibiting deep mistrust and allowing no agency for any employee - it is abusive. Working here is confusing, demoralizing, demeaning, and offers next to no benefits. Pay is far below market rate, performance reviews are performative at best. leadership changes their minds on a whim, depending on which family member plays boss on any given day, policies change as they rotate around their titles, and between sun at six and maria yee. This company lacks purpose, planning, profits and seemingly exists only to massage the egos of the founders and their adult children. The best thing about working here is that it showed me everything I need to avoid in my future career, and having now started work at a different employer, I realize what it means to be treated with respect, be valued and trusted. it will take me time to recover from the experience of working here and i sincerely don't wish it upon anyone.

Pros

Has running water and working lights

Cons

I regret to share my experience working at her, particularly due to the toxic work environment and the management style. Here are some key reasons that might discourage potential candidates from considering employment here: Narcissistic Leadership: The leadership here is unfortunately marred by a narcissistic boss. Decisions are often driven by personal agendas and ego rather than the collective benefit of the team. This results in an environment where individual accomplishments are exaggerated while contributions from the team are undermined. Feedback is rarely welcomed or considered, making it challenging to feel valued or heard. Chaotic Environment: The work atmosphere is chaotic, to say the least. Constant changes in direction, unclear expectations, and a lack of structured processes make it challenging to focus and deliver quality work. There's a pervasive sense of instability, leaving employees feeling on edge and uncertain about their roles and responsibilities. Selfish Culture: The company culture is centered around self-interest rather than collaboration or teamwork. Colleagues are encouraged to compete against each other rather than work together toward common goals. This creates an atmosphere of mistrust and undermines the potential for a supportive and cohesive team dynamic. Lack of Growth Opportunities: Professional development and growth opportunities are scarce. The focus is on immediate results without investing in the growth and skill development of employees. This can be disheartening for those looking to advance their careers and learn new skills. Work-Life Balance Concerns: The intense focus on individual achievements often leads to an unhealthy work-life balance. Long hours are often expected without consideration for personal time or well-being. In conclusion, while every workplace has its challenges, the combination of a narcissistic boss, chaotic environment, and a selfish culture at creates a work environment that may not be conducive to professional growth or personal well-being. Potential candidates might want to carefully consider these aspects before committing to a role here.

Pros

A handful of coworkers who survive by fantasizing their departure.

Cons

A total narcissist boss who will jeopardize actual growth and sales, just so that she retains decision making power. She gets embarrassingly jealous of employees when they are right and she is wrong and lashes out in the weirdest ways. A group of us begged her to see reason on a project, where she insisted on projecting 9 million dollars worth of sales from it to a very reputable business partner. We begged her to not make a fool of herself and the company by saying those numbers, but she got angry when we questioned her about how she reached that number because she so obviously just made it up. I couldn’t breathe at that meeting and of course we lost the partner and the project (some 5 years worth of money resources and work went into it) - and it was never acknowledged. Never takes responsibility. Has been personally involved in every detail of this business- but if something goes wrong she is the first to say “ I wasn’t involved in it” and “now i will get involved and fix it” Makes everyone uncomfortable by saying how she works in the night, how she doesn’t wear jewelry, or make-up - and makes it very obvious that’s what she expects - but - no raises. She talks about her hard she works, about how the business makes no money and about how she is the expert at everything- and seem oblivious to the fact that those three things don’t add up. Her own som who has a part if the business- lies to the world by saying company is a Brooklyn studio - when literally his stuff is made in the same giant factory in china. It is an open secret that he lives in Brooklyn because he doesn’t want to work with his mother who is in California. Employees just have to suffer through all the dysfunction if these family members, and their policy that if anything goes right it’s because of how good the boss is and if anything goes wrong it’s because of you.
