Since late 2019 they have been regularly laying off people, saying "no more lay-offs, honest" and then laying off more people two months later. This has resulted in a terrible culture of anxiety. MarkLogic have made a series of misguided product decisions since around 2015 (Data Hub Framework, Machine Learning, DHS) and are now considered "legacy", as they haven't kept up with the times (SaaS, modern UIs, containerization, etc) There is a huge reality-gap between what is being sold and what the product actually is, despite the heroic efforts of many in the field to plug that gap with open-source, personal-project UIs. There is very little awareness of what their competitors are doing and how badly MarkLogic has been failing to meet their customers' needs.
