    I have been working at Merlin Entertainments part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    They’re really flexible with hours and there’s a lot of social interaction between guests and colleagues. Involves responsibility and is a lot of fun (not too boring most of the time).

    Cons

    Guests can often be difficult (like pretty much everywhere else) and you only get seasonal contracts unless you are a TL (etc) so you’re out of a job by November.

    Advice to Management

    Make the initial effort to make friends with colleagues and get to know as many people as possible.

    Pros

    The people you work with are great. Free tickets to Merlin attractions. Discounts with a lot of other companies.

    Cons

    Poor pay for the size of the company. Days fluctuate from being incredibly busy to incredibly quiet and boring with nothing to do. Lack of progression unless management like you as a person. Lack of appreciation and recognition from management.

    Advice to Management

    Get out into the attraction more, spend time with your department on both busy and quiet days so you get a better picture of the actual role.

    Pros

    Some of the best and weirdest experiences of my life have happened while working for Merlin. The products are great, the people are passionate and if you are willing to go the extra mile and travel there are endless opportunities.

    Cons

    Nothing really negative but be aware that Merlin asks a lot of you and it's a full on place to work. You get out what you get in but commitment is key.

    Really good benefits, Good culture within most teams, social place of work. Unique workplace being at a theme park.

    Cons

    Progression opportunities are poor once you reach a certain level. Training is non existent. Don't value permanent staff fairly.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on your permanent staff as much as you do on making money from guests. Lack of incentives/salary increases/bonuses/training & development pushes your staff away.

    Great team colleagues and management, who do care about you and your well being. Great environment to work in aswell and it's always busy which keeps you on your feet.
