Pros

Some (only 1 or 2) teams have good leaders/managers. Some teams have a good culture of vacation time and work from home.

Cons

Please please please ask to talk to team members before joining any team! Leaders/managers are very bad and you will find out if the team you are joining has that bad manager if you talk to the team members. I was shocked when MT was listed as one of the best places to work at.. It's not true. The benefits they offer are just to lure people into joining MT and to show the world they care. But the moment you are hired you will start to see huge difference in promises they made during interview and what you actually receive when you start working. After leaving the company I realized how underpaid engineers are in mineraltree. Unfortunately, I don't think the company is going to last for more than a year. They are already low on funding and on top of that the management is making very bad decisions by giving too much power to immature and inexperienced people. Some of the leaders are new leaders who just got promoted but never learned how to manage or lead a team. I have never seen such a mess in any company in terms of management. Many teams have complained about their leaders and although the upper management did acknowledge their concerns however they did not take any solid steps towards getting rid of those bad leader/managers. Because of that some managers/leaders are still ruling the team with fear and teams cannot do anything but work like slaves with sometimes no lunch time. The fear is so much that I have seen many employees cancelling their Doctor appointment and ignoring health issues. Work from home is there but it really depends on the team. There are only 1 or 2 teams that truly let you work from home and take unlimited PTO and trust you with that. But for most other teams the leaders have old traditional thinking that the amount of hours you are present in office equals how talented you are. If you work from home or are not present for more than 8 hours every single day then it doesn't matter how talented you are. They will refuse to acknowledge your talent. There is a lot of politics in the company where managers are hiding their true selves from upper management and ruling their team with fear and throwing them under the bus when a project fails. I have been in software industry for years and not once I had to work under such a horrible manager. I was asked to lie to upper management and other teams about many things which made me really uncomfortable. And if you disagree with your manager to not do certain things then he/she will just put you on a PIP for communication issues and blaming you for things you never did. Also not enough parking. They will reimburse you for parking at public parking but most parking lots are full by 9.45

Pros

There are some really great and smart people at the company......also quite a few that are not.

Cons

It all depends on where you work within the company. Finance seems good. Support folks are always pretty jovial. Sales is miserable and there is least one teared up AE or BDR daily. Implementation takes a beating and has high turnover. They had a good manager for a while, but he wised up and jumped ship. Engineering and marketing appear to be pretty good places. Payments team seem pretty happy,

Pros

When I look for a place I want to work, I look for 3 things - great product, open-minded and humble leadership, and happy customers. We really do have all three, and I think it shows on a day-to-day basis by how motivated all of the teams are. It's extremely easy to get involved in as much or as little as you want to, and there is a sense that you'll still be valued. We're lucky to still be at the stage where everybody's contributions matter.

Cons

I fear that as we grow, we will lose the sense of respect that we've built as peers across teams. Then again, I don't think that this size of a company is for everyone, and as we grow and hit new milestones, I'm sure we will also outgrow more people. It's extremely easy to work too much. We have a weird culture where people don't know how to say no, and then requests just keep piling up on very few people. We need to not only learn to say no, but also respect that everybody does not want to commit 60+ hours a week to working here - or even 40+!
