Pros

I am excited to share with the world that Unicorns do exist! They live at Modern Tribe. Modern Tribe is unlike any other organization I've been a part of during the ten years of my career journey. The core of the humbleness, supportive teamwork mentality, energetic atmosphere (even remotely), and quality of work that leads this company is truly due to three Partners. The individuals at Tribe are some of the most welcoming, thoughtful, light-hearted, intelligent, and creative people I've been exposed to. They are truly building a remarkable tribe. Did I mention this Unicorn also allows you to work remotely!? The company is fully distributed and it's amazing. I don't know how they do it, but I feel a part of a team just as much as I did going into the office for years. I got to a point in my personal and professional life where I was less focused on the amount of money I made and instead put my personal happiness first, along with being a part of something bigger. Quality vs. quantity. Recently, I calculated the minimum hours Modern Tribe has given back to me in time. The number totaled 1,305 hours. Approximately five hours each day and 54 more days a year where I can choose to do the things I love and spend time with those who mean the most to me. Oh yeah, and if I wanted to go work from Hawaii for a few months, I could without my company questioning me, paperwork, or guilt. Actually, my team would encourage it if this were something I wanted to do and enjoyed! The people - the people make up this amazing, wonderful, awesome Unicorn of a company. Couldn't be more happy and confident with my decision to learn more about Tribe, apply, and become a part of their team.

Cons

The company is in a stage of growth where there are just enough employees that benefits offered by other large companies are becoming a reality. Health insurance, 401k, and paid national holidays are on the horizon, but not quite available to employees. However, the company is generous with PTO (25 days the first year) and also offers a great HRA reimbursement program for health-related costs. I'm not sure I would even consider this a con, considering the leaders are proactively researching options for their tribe family.

Pros

Smart people who love what they do.

Cons

Even though all roles are remote, they require you to track every minute of your day in an in-house time tracking system, even if you are not client facing. Low pay Not much room for growth as they keep everyone as contractors They used to require current employees write a Glassdoor review and submit it to the HR/ops team; then before the company would post it, would review it to make sure it was positive.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We really appreciate it! As a digital agency that has a focus on both internal and client facing work, it is important to the team that hours are tracked in our internal time tracking system. This helps us learn and grow in our working estimates and forecasting, stay on budget for client projects, and to ensure that hourly staff are paid. That said, full time employees are not required to clock internal or overhead time in the same way. At times, there is project work that is required to be tracked but there is not an expectation to clock all the time worked in a given week. If someone can clock all their time, that’s amazing, but is not a requirement. Most team members working for Modern Tribe are full time employees with the opportunity to grow into more senior and lead level positions across the technical disciplines within the organization. At times, there is also the opportunity for advancement within the StellarWP brand ecosystem or the broader LiquidWeb organization. Glassdoor reviews are incredibly helpful to those looking to join Modern Tribe and to our employer brand. We do ask team members for feedback at various stages of the employment lifecycle, but never require that team members submit for approval or review before posting. Feedback is important to helping us grow as a company and to be a place where people want to work. We appreciate when people take the time to offer it up…and we thank you for taking the time to provide yours as well. We welcome the opportunity to improve in those areas where we can do better, and we will continue to seek ways to improve our time tracking experience.
