The lack of real management, and level of micromanagement is disturbing
Pros
Momence has a truly top notch product, I’d say it’s the top software out there for studio management however I have truly never experienced such poor management in all my years working in the corporate world.
Cons
There was either absolutely no management provided or after the sales manager was let go, the sales team was micromanaged by not only the CEO but managers from teams that had nothing to do with Account Executives. These managers who countless times referred to the AEs as the SDR team would lead team syncs letting us know how to do our job - in the meantime he quite honestly has no idea how to do his job and how the sales funnel works - and I’m pretty sure if we heard the word “pineapple” one more time we’d all go crazy. In my time there I asked for feedback, coaching, and demo/call reviews countless times to whoever was my superior and received none. Now, although I’m a good and hard working sales rep but learning a new software completely on my own (besides the help of some incredible teammates) and then receiving zero coaching from management is not a recipe for success. Our roles were completely changed with no discussion or warning. And at a certain point the AE team went from absolutely zero activity expectations to a ridiculous 80 dial/40 email daily activity quota. There’s jobs I’ve interviewed for that warned me of the high activity expectations at which point was told they expect 15-20 dials a day…. 80 unthoughtful dials a day for an AE who is supposed to put time, research, and intention behind every dial is honestly ludicrous and shows the lack of experience from the higher ups. It turned into a reckless quantity over quality in an attempt to take over every vertical that Momence is not made for. When the company decided to assign AEs to verticals the software was not made for - asking for help was out of the question. The CEO and other management had absolutely no tips and no clue on how to even begin selling the product to these verticals however our quota was not changed and we were not supplemented with leads that Momence was actually created for. When provided with countless calls/emails full of feedback to help create the product these prospects would need, the AEs were mostly met with crickets… It’s honestly quite disappointing how the CEOs have handled this company. They have zero knowledge in delegating, very obviously no experience in managing different teams, and refuse to give up the reigns to people who have the experience and knowledge they lack. The company could have incredible growth with the proper management. They hired truly incredible sales reps who have experience with not only their competitors but also other experience selling to more difficult prospects but they did not use the team’s combined knowledge, feedback, or concerns to help the company grow. Instead you were punished for voicing concerns, asking for help, and expecting some semblance of coaching/trust. The environment is not conducive to good mental health. The AEs are often criticized with zero feedback on how to improve, there’s absolutely zero training on the software, and again - the micromanagement has led people to actual health concerns due to the constant stress. Using the excuse that they’re an early stage start up would work if they actually made some sort of effort to make changes. But 5 years in, I’m fairly certain they haven’t. In fact, they seem to regress instead.
