There are times in any industry where things do not go right at all, but when you're out in the middle of no-where and you need support (from fellow developers), sometimes your just going to be out of luck.
In addition, traveling becomes a bit excessive at times, especially if you have a family (kids or not) and you may grow to not like traveling as much.
To add on to the traveling bit, reimbursements were not as optimal as they should have been especially when you have to go on extended back-to-back trips.
Sometimes, the level of appreciation of the hard work that is done was not there, and it was sometimes followed with criticism. Sometimes management even became verbally aggressive without a valid reason.
When it came to getting a raise, it literally was a slap in the face.
