Pros

NuWaves does a variety of projects and products which does provide some technical challenges and opportunity to learn new skills and knowledge. The work environment allows for casual attire (jeans when customers are not in house).

Cons

The president of NuWaves comes off very well during interviews and you may think any negative reviews here on Glassdoor have it wrong. The culture within NuWaves is nothing like what is presented during interviews. People are rewarded for telling the president what he wants to hear. Presenting honest, unbiased information which doesn't meet the president's view of things will be met with a variety of negative responses. The president often yells during meetings and will page employees using a Monte Hall, "Come on down", approach which is degrading to professionals. The people who have risen within NuWaves are either relatives of the president or people who will tell the president how smart he is, or both of these things. Do not blindly believe what you see and hear during the interview. NuWaves is in many ways the poster child for "Culture eats strategy for breakfast." NuWaves has all the buzzwords of open communication, honest communications, fail early, teamwork, etc. but the reality of the company culture is different. The president will openly yell at anyone in the company who he chooses to direct his attention toward. The company is directed solely by the president and the vice president has little direct power to make changes or policy. There are certainly people who will accept this work environment for the paycheck and some may even enjoy this type of culture. If you are one of these people, NuWaves may be for you. If you believe in what is presented during your interview with NuWaves about their culture and think that sounds good, you will likely be disappointed with the reality once you are an employee. Go into your interview with NuWaves asking a lot of question about how things actually happen. Try to get them to provide details on projects and not just buzzwords and catchy phrases.

We appreciate your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you had a negative experience during your time here at NuWaves. We would like to address a few points you mentioned: 1. We do offer a variety of technically challenging projects and products, presenting many opportunities for technical folk to learn and grow. Engineers and technicians seeking to expand their RF expertise can do so with the wide range of opportunities offered by NuWaves’ projects. 2. NuWaves is very protective of our culture and we work to continuously improve it through hiring and growing people with the right attitude, competency, and mindset to support our strategic business goals. Those who value growth, continuous improvement, leadership, and are up for a challenge will succeed in this environment. 3. Our President is very passionate and has high expectations of all employees. One aspect we continuously strive to instill in our culture is accountability at all levels of the organization. We do not ask that employees only deliver good news, but we do ask that they communicate issues and challenges to their teams and management rather than sweep them under the rug so that NuWaves can take advantage of opportunities rather be in fire-fighting mode. 4. NuWaves’ Leadership Team, including the President, values what employees have to say, whether it agrees with their current perspective or not. We seek employees who can bring a diversity of viewpoints and can work with us and their teams through any disagreements to achieve positive results for the business. On another note, due to the anonymous nature of employee surveys and the lack of context, issues that come up are often difficult to directly address. NuWaves does offer a variety of avenues to contribute to improving the company. Again, we do truly value your feedback and we thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Pros

Decent employees and managers, honesty is part of culture, hard workers

Cons

Red tape worthy of a 50,000 employee company, managers spend minimal time on any project, meetings that take hours to decide on tiny cosmetic details, generally very inefficient and cost-prohibitive.

Thank you for your feedback. We have continued to work very hard to improve our culture and protect it. It is important to us to find those decent, hardworking employees that you speak of as they are the backbone of our culture. As for the red tape, we take this very seriously. We are a small business working in an industry with many regulations which can sometimes slow us down. We currently have many initiatives being driven by leaders at all levels in the company to remove as much red tape as possible in all of our processes. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts with us.
