Pros

Friendly colleagues. Fun to hang around with. I am sure that I will stay in touch with a few of them once I am gone. Most are like me, looking elsewhere.

Cons

CEO keeps telling us that Apple is his aspiration. The way things are going, Blackberry is a more appropriate comparison Induction course feels like indoctrination HR department calls itself "Organisation Development". Pompous name = pompous attitude Many senior executives are in the wrong jobs, only there because they are close to the CEO Some comments posted on this site sound a bit too positive to have been written by employees, let alone my Octopus colleagues. They read like they were dictated or commissioned by the "Org Dev" crowd. The Soviets' Politburo would not have done better propaganda

Pros

This point has been made before but it is worth repeating. Many of the positive reviews on this site are too good to be true

Cons

The number of messages headed "a great place to work" is odd. In the last year or so, I counted 6 posts with that title - 22 May 2017, 5 July 2017, 20 April 2018, 11 May 2018, 9 June 2018, 18 June 2018. HR is running out of ideas to artificially boost ratings on this site. I also counted 5 positive reviews on the same day - 20 April 2018. Very dodgy. My advice to prospective candidates is not to believe these fawning comments.

At Octopus we openly, actively and regularly encourage all of our employees to provide feedback to one another, whether it’s positive or areas that people can improve on. This is true of management too who actively invite employees to provide feedback on what’s working well for the group and what’s not. We also actively encourage people who work at Octopus to talk about their experience on Glassdoor to help people understand what it’s like working within the Octopus Group. Feedback is a fundamental part of our culture, which everyone at the company contributes to, and we passionately believe that every single employee should have the opportunity to be listened to and bring new ideas. Many of our employees choose to do this and we recognise that this is an increasingly important forum for people to get an understanding of the company. As disappointing as it is when people write negative reviews, we want to encourage people’s feedback so we can continue to work hard to make Octopus a great place to work. As ever, we would encourage anyone with any questions or concerns, or suggestions on how we can improve things, to speak to a member of the management team or their line manager.

Pros

None that I can think of - maybe the colorful reception?

Cons

The list could go on for ever but essentially here we go: - arrogant people across the management and HR (and marketing too) - no particular skills across the business, no value added for employees or clients - poor investment performance for years across all products - frustrating and horrible working environnment - because everyone is deeply unhappy there they end up treating each other in a horrible way, it is a vicious circle! - no vision from the management, no goals, nothing (beheaded duck aimlessly runing around) - niche market that could collapse overnight following the slighest regulatory change - incompetence across management and the whole HR department
