Pros

* A chance to work with some cool new technologies * Very nice kitchen/break area stocked with tons of snacks and beverages * Relaxed dress code * A great Development/QA team with some very talented & friendly people * It's in The Woodlands

Cons

* Lack of clear-cut vision by upper management will have you completely re-doing the same work multiple times which is both frustrating and time-wasting, yet you will still be held to a strict schedule (oftentimes with still-incomplete requirements) * Lack of any real innovation in terms of ideas or evolving towards the future leads to a feeling of stagnation; simply utilizing new technology does not make you innovative * Creative/new ideas often get immediately shot down only to be re-presented to you as someone else's down the line * Plan to spend almost as much time meeting about and attempting to estimate/document your work as you do actually performing the work * It's always nice to see an unnecessary state-of-the-art wall of cloud monitoring tools that nobody asked for, probably cost $75,000-100,000, and maybe 3 people in the entire company can interpret, yet the entire department gets a fixed 5% bonus and 3.5% raise with no basis on performance this year * An absolutely obscene employee turnover rate. The business would like to hire the top 10% of software developers yet the pay scale does not reflect this. This discrepancy makes it difficult to hire good people and even more difficult to keep them around for any length of time. The company is also a tad trigger-happy when it comes to terminating employees. I've witnessed far more employee terminations in the past 8-1/2 years than I have in my previous 20 years of work experience combined. The business seems to be of the mind that a talented developer is easily replaceable when in reality they are a valuable commodity. * Mediocre benefits

Pros

Something to put on your resume.

Cons

Upper management takes no responsibility for any issues that it creates. It's like talk to a bunch of spoiled children. They always present themselves as being industry leading when in fact they have no idea what they are doing most of the time as they are too busy blowing smoke up clients asses. Nobody knows what they are supposed to do because they aren't held to any kind of standards. They avoid hiring permanent people so they can get rid of them easier. Not because the jobs are temporary type positions. Even the hiring company has problems with them. There is only one HR person and she is also accounting which is a conflict of interest. The sales positions pay crap for commission and they shift the percentage in their favor. The expect people to make up for their mistakes when they lose a manager due to not allowing that manager to do their job. They actually had a meeting where they told everyone to get on the bus and made everyone sing the wheels on the bus go round and round when they restructured the company management. Normally when you make goals you make them so you can achieve them so you can have a measure of success. Not these guys, they set people up for failure so they don't have to pay them what they are worth. They will only pay you a top salary if they plan on lumping a bunch of stuff on you they couldn't do themselves. That is why they don't promote from within the company. They always bring in new suckers that have no idea what way the wind is blowing.

Pros

Casual dress, free food, flexibility, work from home opportunities, awesome break room, benefits

Cons

PAY sucks! Doing the work of 2 positions and only getting paid for ONE position. Management doesn't know where we will be in 2-5 years. They will lie and say that you can move up but you cannot. Unsure if we still have a CEO, since we are merging with Constructconnect. There is no stability at the moment. Do not know if I will have a job within the next couple of years. There is no training, you just have to jump in and get going
