I have been working at OpenBet full-time

    Pros

Fantastic benefits, great office, really good work life balance. Free fruit is a big plus. Exciting to grow at such a quick pace.

    Cons

One might get stuck working on old legacy systems/languages (TCL). Other than that I can't think of any cons

I have been working at OpenBet full-time

    Pros

If you can go do this, you can pretty much do anything!

    Cons

Chaos! Chaos! Chaos! Never ever have a I worked in such a chaotic place where senior managers fight each other for resources but you get the blame for not delivering when they take all your resources away! Zero listening from management, and lots and lots and lots of blaming!
    Steer clear..

    Advice to Management

    Go work somewhere else ...

I have been working at OpenBet full-time

    Pros

Very diverse culture, great benefits, great remuneration overall. I am actually surprised by some of the negative reviews. Completely undeserved.

It's set in a really lovely and peaceful business park which also has some enjoyable perks. Food stalls, events etc

More perk: Ping pong room, Pool room, PS4, library resting area, free coffee, free fizzy drinks, discounted tier 1 virgin gym, flexible working hours, canteen with sandwiches and hot food, freebie fridays, excellent pension

    Cons

Very big a spacious office, so parts can get quiet. Other than that I can not think of anything else bad to say.

    Advice to Management

    None

    I worked at OpenBet full-time

    Pros

    Nice gaming area
Chiswick business park is a good area
    Gym discount

    Cons

    Terrible management and mentors
Expect to be thrown into the deep end with no assistance whatsoever
Will lie and tell you, your doing good up until the work is to be submitted
Works on tcl - and for those who know tcl, they don't even have the most up to date version
Vim is the IDE and good luck asking for help
    Extremely low wage
Get given monthly bonuses of cupcakes or free desert, but no money

    Advice to Management

    Cop on!!
You are a successful company, grow your tech base and reward your employees.

To anyone looking to start - This was my first developers position, it was all I got offered. If you are in the same position as I was, I would say join and get experience as probation is 6 months. If you like the low wage and outdated tech, then by all means stay, but I would advise you to use them for everything they have, build up your skillset and move on. Thats what I had done and I walked into a job with a much better stack and a lot bigger wage.

I worked at OpenBet full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly, professional, highly intelligent colleagues. Agile environment. A chance to work on high-transaction websites where performance is key. The gaming industry has some highly complex products: if you like analysis, then you'll find much to get your teeth into here.

    Cons

The core platform is coded in C and scripted in a niche scripting language (TCL). Be sure that you can get on with TCL before you apply: there isn't any decent IDE support and you'll work mainly in Vi; TCL doesn't support modern programming paradigms (read a book on it *before* applying); and there aren't many job opportunities in TCL. This sort of environment favours those who have encyclopedic memories for large code bases. Lastly, when I worked there they used CVS (although I think there was talk of moving to Git in the future). Be sure that you can get on with CVS too.

    Advice to Management

It's easy to recommend that management upgrade their core technologies. I recognise this is much harder in reality. Their technology is reliable, mature, and fast. However, by moving to a more modern stack, they would attract applicants from a much wider field.
