    Pros

OpenX is an innovative company with a clear vision and strategy. One of the best things about working for this company is spending your days surrounded by great people. Employees across the globe are hard working, smart, creative, helpful, motivating and fun! Management really care about staff and are always looking for ideas and suggestions on how things can get done differently to make them better. It's a great place to start and build your career.

    Cons

    Can't really think of any

    Advice to Management

    I worked at OpenX full-time

    Pros

Great offices, good benefits (daily lunch, contribution to travel expenses, contribution to gym membership, etc).

    Cons

Unfortunately, senior management is not open to receiving any criticism. As soon as you raise any issues or point out problems, you get blacklisted by your manager. This senior management attitude has created a very bad culture of backstabbing and dishonesty.
    HR department is extremely unprofessional.

    Advice to Management

Review your senior management and allow personnel to talk freely and raise their concerns.

    Pros

Good people, good company overall. If you are self-motivated you can do absolutely anything.

    Cons

Too much politics at times in the London office. No structure in terms of who does what and not enough training given. Constant fear when guys from US were about to arrive.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you hire a good MD that will motivate people and will make them want to stay.

    Pros

Agile env with scrum. Young and fun to work and play with people. Loved it

    Cons

The scrum implementation was a bit broken, but management was willing on improving things. Considering that it was over 6y ago, it should have been fixed by now.

    Advice to Management

    improve scrum

"Many smart individuals work here, but not all of them pull in their weights."

    Pros

Culture is supportive! Exec team is transparent and cares for the people. Smart people with diverse backgrounds work here. Monthly meeting is held to recognize individuals that put in extra efforts to bring a difference to the company.

    Cons

Too many meetings! And too many attendees in each meeting which would end up being inefficient. Need more management on ppl who don’t deliver.

    Advice to Management

Make sure everyone is held accountable for their work and does pull in their weight!

I worked at OpenX full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Still some smart and friendly people left. Good perks however this is par for the course in competitive tech environment.

    Cons

Sadly the product has not evolved in maybe two years. Communications is doing a good job of pushing mobile heavily however this is not a new product from an exchange perspective, it is simply a new format that Openx should have pushed aggressively two years ago.

The culture has dipped and OpenX is sadly no longer a desired destination.

The industry has been commodotized by header bidding and it is hard to see how the company will support 500+ employees let alone show any growth to warrant shares being worth anything. Options have drastically dropped in value to the point many option holders are underwater.

A lot of spin magic being done to try to show externally that the company is doing well but everyone that has worked there recently knows that there have been quiet layoffs as well as departures not getting back filled and missed revenue targets.

    Advice to Management

Stop the spin job, OpenX needs a lot of work. Get some executives who actually show up to the office and lead. Don’t just innovate in marketing and PR spin, innovate in product development.

I worked at OpenX full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Exciting work, good benefits. Before the CTO change and subsequent invasion of an army of his unqualified friends ('the yellow page gang'), it was a great place to work

    Cons

so many cons, just listing the big ones: No collaboration, idiots running amok in upper management, toxic culture, micro-management, cliquish, large layoffs, secrecy, irrational behavior from senior mgmt, dishonesty, scheming, etc.
Most of the senior management with morals left during the big protest resignations at the beginning of 2018. No strategy, they just run in circles, since everything is a snap decision and the C-levels refuse to listen to the few knowledgeable engineers left.

    Advice to Management

Consider having senior mgmt align to the company's values, rather than specifically acting contrary to each one of them. Your internal satisfaction surveys didn't nosedive on accident, it is the direct result of the implementation of a culture of favoritism and nepotism by the new CTO. Suggest getting rid of him before you lose the last of your engineering managers.

    Pros

Used to be interesting. Multiple coffee pod options.

    Cons

Management, and the board, has diluted shares down to an embarrassing price. They missed their opportunity to really make employees some money. Don't waste your time taking a salary below industry standards in hope that your equity will be worth anything, it won't be.

    Advice to Management

Create a time machine and go back to a period when people thought OpenX had value.
