Culture has gone down the drain

Pros

Good pay compared to other startups hiring internationally. The engineering team is VERY strong. Unlimited PTO and good benefits overall for contractors.

Cons

The culture turned from a great workplace, collaborative and fun to work, into a competitive one, full of conflicts between teams. The leadership did this, specially after the CTO's exit. They hired a whole lot of managers that don't manage anyone and also can't do actual analyst work. Upper management constantly tries to show they are actually doing work to the CEO, but they obviously don't know what they are doing. But the worst thing are the layoffs: they fire pregnant women, expecting fathers, entire teams, with no shame at all. They fire people with very little feedback and no time at all to recover from a bad performing month.

Pros

The offsites are nice and the engineering team is great and really talented.

Cons

They don't care if you are sick, if you work on weekends, if you work in the evenings to get things done. Actually nobody cares about you as an individual. Fine, they pay pretty well for brazilians to work there but that's only a way to save money and not pay the U.S salaries for engineering. Besides not respecting you as an individual is pretty rare that they will respect you as a professional. You can get laid off without previous notice with the excuse you are not "performing well" aka having no personal life. If you are a workaholic and like to say yes to everything management wants that's a great place to work. The co-founder has no saying and nobody dares to say no to the CEO. The best thing i did was leaving the company.

Pros

- Really talented team - Cool mission - Fun off sites - Great CTO/cofounder leading the team in Brazil

Cons

- The US team unfortunately has a frat house vibe. Those who are promoted are ones who agree with the CEO/cofounder without asking questions and can have non-work discussions that revolve around golf/steak/beer... you get the idea. This wasn't the case a year ago but here we are. - "You are not working hard enough" is a constant message even when the teams are bending over backwards to deliver fast.
